    Option in eBay for PayPal buttons

    I know how to turn these buttons off....... but,
    you know the buttons that show up in your eBay selling listings? (Pay with PayPal securely blahbblah).. well why are they actually there? This guy just sent me £16 for an item that hasn't even ended nor that he is winning.

    Just sent the guy an email asking him whats going on .

    Time to turn them off I think!

    Edit: This is what I mean btw;
    http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/4972/untitled5zm.png
    or at least - that's how I think he paid!

    And you get this message too (if you do try to use that button);
    Do not send payment until you have used eBay's Buy It Now feature to purchase this item. If you send payment without first purchasing this item through eBay, the seller will have no obligation to send this item to you.

    He was probably trying to "buy it now" or something, and is very inept.
    Just reject the payment!

    PayPal accepts it automaticlly?

    The guy hasn't replied, but some guy called Scott is bidding on my item now with 0 feedback, and the sender address was from a guy called Scott so I'm guessing it's the same guy.

    I'll keep the money for now until he replies and we can get it sorted out, if he wins the bid then he can just send me the rest of the money (for P&P.. and the bid has gone up so yeah)

    Edit: Just looked up the contact info, 'tis the same guy

    you can only pay via pay pay once you've won the auction.

    Either he has just sent the money to your paypal address or did you add some kind of special paypal link?

    If you look above I provided a screenshot of what button he must of pressed.

    You can press that button before the auction ends but PayPal gives a warning.

    --

    Auction has ended and the guy has paid me the full amount of what the auction ended for...(so that includes the money before AND the auction) but just sent him a message explaining what he did and such. He still hasn't replied from the previous email I sent him though.

    Yeah i saw that, to me that doesn't look a like a button, it looks like the paypal verified logo - something you would use to advertise the fact you accept paypal.

    Usually there is just the paypal logo under the payment instructions, slightly different looking, and you can't click on it.

    Did you manually add that link to your auction (the one in your screenshot)?

    Fair enough.

    No I didn't manually add the link, PayPal does it automaticlly every now and then when you are selling things.

    Oh, and he sent me a message back. Asking something short and simple, rather than telling me if he wants the money back or not.
