Point is when voting for people you hardly put in much time and effort vetting them, there are absolutely corupt ones who are just out for themselfs, heck I'm recalling the councieler who got kneecapped a few years back in newquay.

But ones scrouples can be shown by their personal life, if someones having an affair, then lieing about it (clinton) lieing to the whole nation, odds are he'd be blackmailable.

Now as such if someones haxing sex, which granted isn't a big deal, it just becomes a bit more of one when its with a praciticing prosititute.

the paper was perfectly in its right to do that, if the guy wants to become leader of a political party he should expect this sort of thing to happen.

I think people here are missing the point. This bloke was married and was using the services of a rent boy. If he's cheating and lying to his wife, how can he be trusted as leader of a political party.

What stance does his party have on the family and family policies? He would simply be ridiculed. His position would be unttenable.

Thank god someone else thinks that, i don't know if we've got a forum load of closet cases who are sympathetic to that level of decipt or some other personal fealings.

off topic question might be, would you ever trust someone who had an affair?

an easyer way of phrasing it so we don't get arguements about context would be, given the choice would you choose between the person who has been having a clandestine affair, or the honest person?

I feel very sorry for the wife and kids too.

My anger has been abated somewhat- apparently last year Oaten criticised a judge for using rent boys, so it turns out he actually is a hypocrite after all. I don't suppose that factored in to the NOTW's thought process though. In a rather irritating irony, my wife went out earlier to buy something to buy a magazine so I told her to see if any of the papers had a free DVD. She came back with.....the NOTW.

As for not wanting to vote for politicians who have affairs on the basis that they're not trustworthy- I think that's pretty simplistic. People have affairs for many reasons, sometimes with their partner's knowledge or even consent. A lot of people stay married just for the good of their kids, for example.

So another case of you jumping in, guns blazing without knowing all of the facts?
Oh well, at least you didn't resort to presonal insults aimed at all that disagree with you this time.

Right or wrong (And the News of the World were correct in going to press with this) its another nail in the coffin of the rapidly imploding Liberal party, and therefore a good thing.

And thats going to make Rave oh so much more likely to be sending you a christmas card this year. I understand that he has feelings for pieces of trash like the notw and the sun etc, but politics is politics, You have to be seen to be whiter than white or you'll get booted out.

I can just go through mp after mp and think of numerous reasons why they've been kicked out, drink/drugs/affairs/fraud etc etc.

Do i trust any MP's?, no simply not, to want to be in a position of power tends to show tendancies that you can be corrupted in one form or another.

I'm personally not up for name and shaming of anyone publically tho, i don't agree with tabloid press measures for doing things, but I also don't like red tape, bureuacracy either.

Guess you have to just put up with things tho.

After him calling me an idiot for doing nothing more than having an opinion that differs to his own, I really dont care.

He still hasn't apologised, even though further information posted on that thread by others in a vastly better position to comment than either of us further reinforced what I said and was called an idiot by him for saying.

It's this a Little bit, Little Britain....?

Personally I think he's a very mixed up guy and the Rent Boy and NOTW are just cashing in.

However you have to ask about his judgement if he decided to run for Leader knowing he was using a Rent Boy whilst trading off his image of a family man...

and you going on at him is going to make him apologise? :/

on a serious note, sometimes you just have to let it slip. Its not like winning a conversation on any internet forum is going to win you a noble peace prize.

sure rave can be annoying as anything at some stages, i've had my own disagreements in the same forum. but continuing battles to seperate threads isn't going to win you or rave any fans on here

I appreciate your point, but I think rave already saw the error's of his ways half way through this thread...

See the question mark at the end there? I wasn't expecting the answer to be yes, but I certainly didn't preclude the possibility.

Remember, if you see a News of the World journalist on fire, DON'T piss on them. Point and laugh instead.
...and I still stand by this. So yeah, what a climbdown.

Riiiiight. Gordon's 'miracle economy'- based on the discovery that if the country as a whole keeps printing and borrowing more and more money you can keep a growth cycle going about twice as long as is prudent- is about to go spectacularly down the pan, resulting in a painful recession. The Tories, under their new 'in touch' leader Davey C have decided that their best bet is simply to copy Labour policies wholesale. So yeah, it's in all our interests that the one party whose policies aren't based around completely ****ing our economy are imploding. Bloody liberals and their sensible ways.
