Last year was great (even with nightwish turning up late grr), and hopefully this year will be even better

yeah i remember t in the park when it was £75 for the weekend inc camping, now it's stupidly expensive...

i reeeeeeeeally want to see the prodigy tho! It'll really depend on who the other bands are, it'll be an either or thing between TITP and download this year i fear, infest will be inevitable so that doesnt even get into the equation.

yeah but think about it guys, it sounds expensive until you realise what you get.

you go down on the wednesday and set up camp. This gives you 2 days of doing whatever you want while camping with your mates, great fun

Then on friday it's indie day - ok so not a good start to value for money I know, but we are now getting 3 days instead of two. Last year there were some good acts on the friday though, I think I saw Biffy Clyro, megadeath and feeder. (the listing becomes useful at the end )

Sat is better still, rock day Trivium, A, Bowling for soup, Anthrax, Velvet revolver and black sabbath.

Sun is metal day, so mudvayne, papa roach, killswitch engage, slayer, slipknot, SOAD (all main stage)

if you added up the costs of going to a gig for each of those bands it's way more than 135quid. 8 arena bands (avg £25ea), and 7 at smaller venues (avg £15) = £305.

Now ok so the sound quality might not be the same as in an academy for example, and you don't get supports (although there are enough smaller/new bands on the 3rd stage to make up for it), but you get loads for your money.

Granted if you only want to see one or two bands its not worth it, but then just get a day ticket... DL is value for money tbh, and great fun too.

Problem is with festivals, your ****ed.

I saw 3 bands at reading festival this year, is I saw them at the academy at an average price of 20 quid thats 60 quid... not 160 quid!

Youll find that drinking till 5am and waking up at 3pm missing half the bands and then not remember / being arsed with the rest takes away some of the worthlyness

Think I might go download for the 3rd year running if I can get funds together, howabout a hexus meet up of some drunken sort?

Might go reading too but in light of the extorionate prices Im goin to jump the fence and pitch up and miss the bands, had a better time last year (3 bands) than the year before (15 or so bands) due to the amount of fun and hilarity that was the product of a litre of vodka to myself in the space of 5 hours and countless bails from a shopping trolly while trying to 'aim' at one of them zepplin air balloons in the sky a mile away

Will be buying my ticket Friday then, ain't fussed on the headliners tbh, I've heard some pretty cool rumors and theres some bands that are almost a certainty really they just have yet to be announced. Hopefully I'll actually pack all the right stuff aswell, seein as its my third year I should be able to get it all right this time.

Ah but that's reading, this is download Better music, so more incentive to go to the bands..I admit reading/leeds is just a go along to get totally off your head for a weekend thing, maybe see the few good bands they put on, but it's mainly about having fun with your mates..

We should do a proper hexus meet up this year, made a half arsed attempt to find knoxy last time but it never happened heh, got another 4 months to plan this one tho

oh and just in case there's confusion, I wouldn't expect any of the 3 currently confirmed bands to be headliners, the only one remotely big enough is The Prodigy..

someone said something about NIN headlining one day, but i dont know how true that is. If it is true, i think i'd pay that much just to see them and the prodigy!

I havent done the whole festival thing for a few years, i'm out of practice and feel kinda old and fuddyduddy-ish since i dont think i'd want to drink much (yes, you read that correctly ) and i dont do drugs, whereas the people i would be going with do. There's a lot of things to contemplate!

Looks an interesting line up but I doubt I can afford this as I'm already planning to go to the glade festival, global gathering and creamfields this year

Thats not a bad price for the weekends line-up.

    Anyone wanna buy a 6800GT ?
