Clicking a link takes you to Hexus though, it's not like they're stealing content, just listing headers in an easy to search way. For doing so I think they deserve the odd Google Ad if people actually use this service, I know I wouldn't bother.

Not if it's only a temporary (ie cached) copy.

I think it is also generally overlooked in cases where the copyrighted material is being used in a way which promotes the copyright holder.

kalniel must be right though, otherwise how on earth would Google keep up with it's webcrawlers if they had to obtain permission from every site that contains copyrighted material?
