    Nigerian Con Artists

What is it with Nigeria and the amount of con artists around. Ever time I put my phone up on ebay i seem to get dodgy Nigerians buying it and asking me to ship it to there sister for there birthday. 0 ratings and no longer registered with ebay. I WILL NOT SHIP TO NIGERIA. As much as I love your country I would like to get paid for the item please

whats the best Nigerian con you have had. my favourite is the email about the plane crash and the law suit where you can make £100000000000 if you can give them a bank account for the payment saying that one of your relatives was killed onboard

    rant over

The best one I saw was when some Nigerian tried to con this bloke in America. The bloke in america took some money for payment then sent him some stones which weighed a ton. The bloke then got his mate in England to take some pictures of him getting the package. The link was posted here a while ago but I can;t find it now.

Don't get me started. I stupidly didn't set up buyer restrictions before i put my phone up, and some Nigerian did the 'Buy It Now' option. So ended up having to relist it

Then, in a 3 day action for it, i got 6 questions asking about shipping to Nigeria. I told them where to stuff it.

    Makes me mad

Been there, have a Nigerian mess up a phone sale for e on eBay. I always chose the 'bidder/buyer must have a Paypal account' option. They rarely have a Paypal account so they get blocked nicely.

I had the same problems selling a phone on ebay.
Had to relist and make the buyer pay with paypal...

Makes selling a phone on ebay a complete gamble, like you're probably got a 50% chance or more of someone from nigeria trying to con you. I'm surprised ebay are SO complacent about it - although I suppose they probably make money from you relisting.

It's the eBay users (sellers) that are complacent too. There are options to help this soft of thing from not happening and block Nigerians etc from bidding, but yeah eBay don't really help that much.

P-P-P-POWERBOOK? That was a seriously long, but excellent read. Certainly one of my favourite scan artist stories.

I read about a nigerian scam before but it involved all sorts of inter-continental sneaking around and 007-style picture taking and investigation on behalf of the british guy over there to trap this bloke. Cant remember where it was posted though and I dont even think they caught him, but he didnt get scammed so not all bad !
