Its the way things are going anyway OiD, as VOIP takes over we will lose the idea of traditional telephony, and with that we do have IP address for all locations.
So you might be able to call David@Hexus.VOIP for example. Underneath this all it translates the details and presents the call to the right place. Mapping Mobile or Landline Numbers underneath this process is no more difficult.
I could write you a system that does that now, that takes calls either via VOIP and converts to landline or mobile PSTN calls and vica versa.
Obviously this would need to be done at Cloud level BT/Network operator level but and its not without some significant challenges.
But this is definitely data/voice convergence at its most useful

great idea imo, so much easier to remember a domain name than a number.
