Help writing a CV?

Im looking to get a job and I was told by the lady on the connexions phone that writing a CV is a good way to start.

Could I have some help on how to write a CV? Any examples? Any tips?

I have no idea where to start.

ms word has loads of cv templates. try that or google

the idea of a CV is to sell yourself to a employer CV or Curricilum Vitae is a starting point to everyone getting a job.

-what you should include on a cv is [not in any order]
-Youre Name address,email,phone number so the employer knows where 2 look to contact you
-Past Employers [whetehr that be your work experience in high scholl to if you did a paper round etc]
-Education [as in high school,college-them kind of stuff]
-Training-whether you've been to a training scheme like Rathbone or New Deal's Gateway To Work scheme.
-Hobbies & Interests- what stuff you do to keep yourself going
-Person Proifile- a profile is a summary of you in a working enviornment I.E.- "i'm hardworking,flexible,enthusiastic,good time keeping etc..."
-References- this is where you put references from past employers to past high school teachers- if you have worked - contact them and ask them if you can use them as a reference

other than that - in MS Word- there is a CV wizard to start one simple do the following below in Word

1-On the File menu, click New.
2-Click the Other Documents tab.
3-Double-click Résumé Wizard.

Keep the length to no more than 2 pages, put everything in chronological order and, umm, make sure there are NO spelling mistakes

Unless you have very, very good reason, keep it under 1 page.

Yeah. Don't waffle on, paragraph after paragraph. The employers/agencies will just get bored... They want snappy sentences that just get the point across.

Also, put the most important information (Qualifications and skills, etc) at the top. It's what they'll read first.

The number one word a employer wanst to see on a cv [according to a Monster.co.uk research] is Teamwork... many people would think punctual or professional manner...

It's simpel really... name me one job where there isnt a Team involved in any part of it...
The Majority of the jobs are Teamwork driven
