    Wow, reminds me of a book I have - "Orbit", full of pictures taken from the Space Shuttle.

    Incredible shots those are though, anyone have high res versions (1280x1024 preferably )

    A very long way, i imagine they use the same kind of imaging systems as sattelites, and look at the kind of detail you can get on google earth, and thats just the publicly available stuff, i wouldnt be surprised if they could resolve say, a sheet of paper, especially if they use some kind of interferometry to get the baseline as long as the actual plane/wingspan
