    School Boy Error!

Sun was beating down today as I'm sure we all enjoyed. About 12 it was looking very nice, so I go into the garden armed with a large towel, a pillow, my Maxim and a cold drink, and lie down in the sun.

Then I fall for the classic SBE and fall asleep! Woke up 80 minutes later looking like the singing detective.

Plenty of After Sun and a shower have taken some of the stinging away, but you could still boil an egg in its shell holding it 6 inches away from the tops of my legs.

*Mopes off to apply more cream*

unofficial medical advice, but one born of many years surfing under the african sun:

go to the nearest health shop, buy some PABA (Para Amino Benzoic Acid), which is a B vitamin, and gobble some down - best thing for prepping the skin for sun, and for dealing with the painful after-effects

Vit E & C won't do you any harm either - quite the opposite.

Is that right? I'll pick some up tomorrow. Not that painful at the moment, but the heat coming off my legs is amazing. Still sizzling away.

Aloe Vera based after suns... (or aloe straight off the plant if you're me) until your skin can't drink any more... it's the best way.

Boots do a good one in their soltan range (a gel, i can't do creams) or there's a nice vivid green one by banana boat that is super too.

    Nothing like a womans touch.

I'll slap it on like there's no tomorrow then. Still, if you can't be all red and sunburnt like a true Englishman on the eve of the World Cup when can you?

    England! *Winces in pain*
