looks like windows with wondows blinds to me...
Looks like some proprietary operating system that someone drew up for the series.... That beeps whenever you type something :)
Well its a Dell screen and a Compaq keyboard in the top pic.

Well it could be anything suitably skinned i suppose. I think that in reality that sort of agency would probably use a custom designed operating system and related databases for optimum efficiency as well as security, otherwise you'd have someone coming in and loading Quake in their spare time for a quick blast! (And dont say you'd limit access, we've all seen that Chloe can just crack passwords if she "just tries harder"!!!)
I do remember reading that Jack (and presumably all of them) use Palm-based handhelds, but honestly cant remember if that's true or not.
Edit: Found it. A Treo (Palm OS based).
basically it'll be some linux variant, if they were being authentic then probably SElinux.
It's the CTU mark 3
I'd go for WindowBlinds, there's probably more people out there who can quickly knock up a convincing "Different" looking OS using that than using Linux. Also more of the crewe would understand it if it went wrong.
in the original 24 episodes it used to be apples, it makes me think that 24 and apple fell out and apple stopped sponsoring 24(just a guess)
Is that what Chloe called her laptop? :)Quote:

The good guys use PCs and the bad guys use mostly Macs. It was accidental, however.

That's what I read on the BBC 24 forum, anyway.
Oh, sorry, I guess they're only on the mk.2's still on Sky One ;)Quote:

yup I agree, just clear enough to make out. The taskbar looks familiar too - although I guess most of them do lolQuote:

pretty close to the second screen for ten minutes of "damnit which screensaver looks vaguely like the top right window"
I'm sure I recall seeing at least 1 of the CTU guys using a Apple laptop in Series 1, 2 or 3 (specific I know), and at least George Mason using a Dell Inspiron Laptop in Series 2...Talk about an IT Administrator's worst nightmare :).
HEXUS.geektalk!
I love it... here on HEXUS we don;t discuss just how unlucky one bloke can be to keep on having one bad day after another or what type pf gun Jack Bauer uses or bloopers or continuty errors and all that...
Oh no... WE go up a notch and have a two page discussion on which OS, what keyboard and even get homemade examples and the reasons why it's a partuicular mod!
this is CLASS!!! :D:D
Ps. I don;t reckon it's a Compaq keyboard... the Compaq has a bit of curve to it I can't see in the top pic... Looks a bit like PC Line cheapy silver one to me! :P
think that's a shadow, mate :)Quote:

Sorry to distract from the amazing conversation, but did anybody manage to record Kiefer on Jonathan Ross tonight? I missed it and wont be able to record it on sunday morning either... would really appreciate it if somebody could help me out?... :)
If I remember to leave the laptop on then I'll record the repeat and upload the Kiefer section on Sunday.
Awesome you're a star if you possibly could do that. Where is best for you to put it?
Thanks very much :)
Cue discussion on how best to record it. :PQuote:

But then the fun only just begins with which software package to use to edit it...
It'll be uploaded to my own internets, I'll post a link tomorrow when it's been chopped up.
Oh, and EyeTV does all for me =)
Looks close to RISCOS to me :) - quite possibly my favourite OS in the world :D <3
Any word Tarffie? Did you manage to remember :)
N.P if not, im sure it will turn up somewhere sometime again...
I've got it but I've not had a chance to turn it into something downloadable. Will get it up (ooh er) tomorrow.
Excellent, thanks very much :)

Ooooo :D
I keep meaning to pick up a "recent" RISCOS machine from ebay, i only have one with 3.11 (iirc) on it. Never got to play with anything above that :)
That article says it's an April's Fool...
Thanks very much Tarffie, just what I wanted!
Thanks again :) :)
