c:\ ?
isnt that a windows thing ?
Im slowly, but surely starting to move everything im doing to linux. I cant belive how well its running everything. Even the main game i play (UT2003) has native support for it, so its all good
I dont need to reformat it, because what i install doesnt tie itself into the OS like they do with windows. Meaning if somthing is slowing the system down, you just delete it

Reinstall everything about 3/4 times a year.

My laptop however mainly runs linux so it aint been done yet!
I only format if either a) everything goes completely wrong, or b) stuff stops working and doesn't seem to want to fix.
Last time I formatted (and installed the same drivers) I lost 1000 3DMarks. Not happy. Kinda proves formatting doesn't always speed your machine up.
NS
I use to do it every 2-3 month but only because I was buying completely new hardware but since getting rid of my main rig for a shuttle I only done that once (when I got it) and it now 8 month old
Only time I've dopne it in the past few months was when I changed hard disks - does that count?
well MS themselves reccomend you reinstall windows every 6 months. Doesnt sound very reaslistic to do that when u have a site with over 2000 PC`s on it and only 5 members of staff.

Usually do it every few months to give a clear out, unless I'm upgrading a vital component (NF7-S coming soon yay) or something goes horribly wrong

3 times on my games machine which is over 2 yrs old, it runs smoother and faster now than the day I first installed XP.
And 3 times for my server, each of those have been OS changes tho. XP, xp-2kserver, 2kserver-2003server.
My house mate seems to re-install every month if not more often
I just think thats overkill and is only needed becuase he either has dodgy hardware, badly setup/configured machine or he installs too much crap/does instal & unistall badly.
I think I used to reinstall every 2-3 months, till I bought XP 7 months ago.
Sadly its time to reformat and start again, as its taking about 2 minutes to boot at the moment - i screwed up something to do with networks, I'm convinced. Ah well, it was a good run...

Ive lost count of how many times I have formatted on my current rig it must be 10+ easily though.
Saracen it is, there has been a bit of a virus outbreak and we are really struggeling. doesnt help having crap AV software and having to remove each instance manually.
