    Online Poker, is it rigged?

Ok i been playing poker for a good 2 years now both live games and online.
I have used many sites but have been on VC poker for a while now, and ive come to the conclusion that something is deffinatly wrong. Im not going to go through all the bad beats which i can accept to a certain point, but dodgy players going all in on 72 and winning it ALWAYS on river is getting silly.
Does anyone else have an opinion on this matter as its getting on my wick cause something jsut isnt right. Oh before u say u need to understand poker, im an expereinced player

    Any opinions?

I wouldn't trust any poker game where the cards weren't real and the pack wasn't fresh!

As for electronic gambling, that is completely rigged, you're just so used to the human element in poker that it strikes you more there ?

ok thought so, i opened up the 24hour manager and had a fat go at him but she jsut said no it isnt and gave me this link http://www.vcpoker.com/support/games...-generator.htm

Still though one week i got 50 quid up then since friday ive lsot it all, not one win, everything i lose like straights and 3 of kind on river and i jsut think,...........erm there is noway that would happen.

Its a shame cause i love poker and if it was fair its a good way to make a bit of extra cash as a student if your any good

This is just another reason I won't play poker online, plus half of a poker game for me is watching for reactions and body language which just doesn't work over the net.

Online poker isn't rigged, you just see so many more hands than you do in real life hence the bad beats come round more often.

In addition, you're playing low stakes right? In those games people will limp in with inside straight draws, low pairs, in fact anything at all! They can't be bullied out, they always hang in there to the river and if there's enough of them your chance of winning isn't anywhere near as good as it would be in a "proper" game (i.e. where everyone knows how to play). Conversely, your odds are much better because so many people are putting money in the pot. It's all about winning the right hands .

Out of interest, what percentage of hands would you say you see a flop with?

no, poker is just alot of fun. give it a go with some mates.

avoid playing online poker for money, is all I can say.

If there is money involved and a system you can't see managing the odds..

Poker has a language all of it's own, you don't need to know it all (knowing what a gay waiter or cowboys are is hardly critical) but some things (flop, river) are kind of important

I never ever put my money into any kind of electronic gambling, online poker, or even the electonic machines in casinos. Far too easy to skew the code in the houses favour.

Like Atrull - a table, some people and some cards etc is the only way.

... and I thought this was about those "adult" entertainment sites

I tried online poker once. Signed up - added a tenner and made 15 quid in the process, but I'm never going back on it as I feel it could eat a lot of money - esp when drunk

It's not rigged, GDVS is right in what he says

I also play a fair bit of online poker - 90% of the time freerolls but sometimes I have a punt with 10$ or so. I play mostly on VC poker too, and on absolute poker (strictly freerolls only there though)

I have won, and lost money on VC - and like you have had some terrible luck. Most recent example was last night - starting with AA, hit an Ace on the flop with a pair of 2's - feeling pretty safe here so go all in with a full house, ace over 2's(wouldn't you). What happens next? two people call - one guy with 6-2. Again no problem. King on the turn, no issue...then a 2 drops on the flop 4 of a kind for him heh

It's really annoying, but then this happens in real life poker too. As GDVS says you see this kind of situation more often becuase you play so many hands it comes around more often.

I also find that in online poker people place too much importance on starting hands like AK, AQ, KK etc - all the 'traditional' good hands. In real life poker sure these are powerful hands you can often use to bluff your way to the pot, and often will give you nice hands But in online poker they can often cause you problems. I've lost count of the number of times i've been beaten holding AK or AQ (suited or off-suit). Your normally looking at a 2pair with them, so easily opens you up for a 3of a kind, or more often a straight.

You have to remember that people tend to play very loose online so will often go all in with 7-2 offsuit or similar. The trick is to spot these players and avoid them VC lets you add notes to players that last between logins, so make a note of these idiots and dont sit down to a table with them. Or get out of the low stakes - you will find much better games at the higher stakes tables (people don't take as many stupid risks). Of course this means you risk more money too, but then you can play 'better' poker.
