Gave up smoking on friday...

I decided to give up smoking, and i had my last one on friday. the doctor gave me some patches and some microtabs, but the only thing the microtabs do for me is take the skin off my lips (must be an allergy), and the patches dont stay stuck on, so now im going cold turkey....

started reading a book that my mate lent me, Alan Carr's Easy way to stop smoking. my mate has given up and all his family and his mrs and her family, so im giving it a try.

any tips, tricks, hints for the noob non smoker?

good for u i can give up till at least monday cos im smoke when i drink and im guan drink loads this weekend at donwload lol o well i smoke roll ups hehe yeah im a cheap ass but i prefer them and they are a HELL of a lot cheaper

Well done clunk, i will be doing the same at some near point.
For the short term (ie next 10 - 20 years) avoid situations when you let you guard down ie pubs and clubs. And maybe work. And home.
Seriously though, start to go more the environments that do not allow smoking such as the cinema, at least for the first few days.
The worst times come in 3's - 3 hours, 3 days and 3 weeks. Get past these milestones and you are brilliant.

My mum finds it good to find an alternative.. e.g. chewing gum, wine gums, chocolate, etc.

A couple of my friends gave themselves something to aim for: List how much you used to spend on ciggies per day/week/month and then see what you can afford from then

gl on giving up, i cant actually stand cigarette smoke i go all paranoid and have to hold my breath lol...

is it true that nicotine gums tastes crap? some of my friends were using it to give up and kept complaining..i told them it was either that or die in ten years time but meh
