Seems to be quite a few double posts around. Is anyone having problems? I doubt its people spamming, I just guess their end they click submit once, and they don't recieve the message so they click again. Boing. Double post.

It's not that. It's when you press it, nothing happens, you wait for 30 or more secs, press it again cos you think it hasn't worked, and you create a double post.

I thought there was some other security to prevent double posts as well. Didn't it used to say 'You have just posted that' or something ... Maybe it was another baord, it checked the length and matched the characters with the last post you posted. Something like that.
Waffle ended.
Im on another board which does this, says "Post already exists" . . . but it will only happen after a certain amount of time after the 1st send . . . there's a guy who's got about 600 of his posts which are double.Didn't it used to say 'You have just posted that' or something
On the same board, it's quite a regular thing - we submit things coz nothing happens, and the board is ersed half the time so it gets clicked again. We also have a lot of double-threads which create quite a few problems (with the board, not the members) . . .
Thats a software default i thinkOriginally posted by TomWilko
They used to be a 15-30 second rule before you could post again wasn't they?! Could you get this put in again??
As howard says thats how these double, sometimes triple (for the more impatient ie me ) come about doh
i think the rules still there, but some how it doesnt work.. cos i got a message a while ago about cant post in xxx seconds from last post, then straight after i posted something else and it was a dbl
(which was my first and ONLY dbl post on these forums)!
You will get the message if you click again beofre 30 seconds and the page actually loads. It's if it's after 30 seconds. When you click it, it sends the data to the server, but the server for some reason doesn't bounce back with the correct page, and if you wait longer than 30 secs, it sends the data again... And works because you've passed the failsafe 30 secs thing

You have been warned!!
One forum I'm on just disables the Submit button via Javascript after you click it. Simple - no unintentional double-posts.
You must have clicked it twice. It's not a software bug that repeats the click for you.Originally posted by Colonel Ames

I was going to do that, but thought it was too immature.

LMAO @ aeonf242!
And if you have a double post, can't you just edit it and choose the delete option? That's what I do - though I haven't tried it on this forum yet, it should work unless the powers that be have disabled it for some reason.
You can't delete posts.
Maybe some people are trying to spammmmmm
