I would have though this may be causing more trouble than its worth? I'm not all clued up on what is actually going on here as I try and stay out of this type of stuff but wont Al-Qaida kick back?

heh, all the american's seem to be able to do these days is bomb things with those smart bombs that are considered accurate if they get within 6 feet of the target. well, one or two houses out isn't gunna make much difference now is it?
The US led war - yup, can we withdraw then? noooo....oh and the americans in various operations have relied on the british for helicopter pilots because the last time they tried low altitude flying in deserts they had a habit of crashing.....
that and we have lost more troops & planes/helicopters in the war on iraq from friendly fire than enemy action?
God Bless the US of A.
Well done for finally killing someone who was actually a target![]()

its a shame it wasnt 24 hours earlier 06/06/06.
US led doesnt mean on their own last time I checked...Originally Posted by dave87
Smart bomb has to have been the easiest and quickest way. Radio pilot with coordinates and say bombs away is much quicker and safer than getting a whole heap of troops together giving him time to get away.
According to onre he was captured alive but badly injured by iraqi troops following up the bombing.

I agree that he is likely to be replaced by an even bigger tyrant (US have apparently already named the man likely to succeed al-Zarqawi) but whats key is the fact that someone had 'sold out' Zarqawi. Al-Qaeda is built on trust & loyalty to their cause which has meant that it has been difficult for the coalition intelligence to infiltrate the terrorists.
Killing Zarqawi in this way has shown that even the most protected & high profile insurgency 'leaders' will ultimately end up sold out by their own fighters and then captured/killed. This will definitely lead to a breakdown in the loyalty & trust amongst the groups and destabilise the organisation of the insurgency.
Unfortunately, with the current lack of organisation of the Iraqi Government / police / army it is unlikely they'll be able to take full advantage of this situation and move towards a peaceful solution for Iraq any time soon.
Good point and is exactly why realistically there are going to be a certain number of coalitian soldiers for at least 10 years assuming the UN hasn't taken over by then doing the usual peace keeping nonsense.Originally Posted by frumpet

I'm a liberal, and I think the war was prosecuted for nonsense reasons blah blah etc. etc.
One of the only good things they've managed is to shove 500lbs of explosives up this psychopathic bastard's backside. Good on them, shame it took them three years. Still, credit where credit's due.
