Official HEXUS World Cup Discussion Thread!

---- Lets try to keep the bulk of World Cup 2006 discussion in this thread people, don't want the whole first page taken up with 25 different World Cup topics. Cheers. ----

24hrs to go so Post anything that you like about the world cup in here, whether it be Rooney Injury or you recon the Germans are all sleeping with the olypmic Shot Putt Team (mens) , or it be after match thoughts ...

I personally love how the WC gets everyone buzzin, even if are from Togo and there is more chance of finding Lord Lucan than Winning the WC the feeling is like a a national holiday..

All the England Flags are out and the Feeling is that we can go all the way, but we think this every 4 years, what makes this one different ??

Maybe its just a funny feeling or is there method behind your madness ..

    you get the drift ...

I think every four (or two with the euro's) we get like this tbh

I think if we play at our very best we could do it. Especially with that bit of Rooney Magic perhaps available on the horizon. Makes our squad from very good to having something a little more special. Our defense is awesome too

Brazil, Agrentina, England, Italy, France, Holland, Spain and Germany can win it.

Ze Germans are only on that list because they are at home, and because you never write off the Germans. On paper they have no chance.

Making a case for England, I'd say that when the World Cup is held in Europe, a team from Europe normally wins. And as England are one of the strongest teams from Europe in it, then we have a chance. Nothing more than that. Brazil and the Argies have most of their players at top European sides these days anyway, so Brazil are rightly favorites.

Lets get out of the group first though - I've a feeling England will win their group, Germany will finish 2nd to Poland in their group and we will have a massive second round game against the hosts.

    Roll on tomorrow.

A psychic said today that since the beginning of the week they've been seeing vivid orange colours, so they reckon that it means Holland will have a great World cup.

I'm betting on them to reach the final (6-1) just in case - yep I'm gullible.

I need a World cup wallchart! Left it too late and now there doesn't appear to be any about.

And Spain? Spain never perform as well as they could.

As for England getting out of the group, the only problem *could* be Sweden but apparently their 1st keeper is injured so thats good news!

Greece can win the Euros, but Italy or France can't win the World Cup?

Italy are solid and know what it takes to win the World Cup, Totti is back, and they will fancy their chances as always. France will be dangerous as always, with Henry, Zidane, Viera and the likes; the problem they have is the average age of their squad is 54.

EDIT - And yes, Spain never do as well as they should, but on paper they have a strong team, and therefore they have a chance to win if they can get it together. Holland rarely do anything either, but you wouldn't write them off. At this stage all you can do is look at the best 11 of the teams I mentioned on paper, and realise that they have a chance to win it, then you add Germany because of home advantage and the annoying fact that they always seem to do more than they should be capable of.

Its not just about Brazil turning up, doing a few tricks, winning every game 7-0, and then all back to Rio for another winners party. There are several teams who can beat Brazil on their day, and they are a bit dodgy, to say the least, at the back.

not sure about holland have you seen their group - ivory coast, argentina and serbia, its gonna be tight

cant see why england cant win it, but i im predicting the usual disappointment of a guaranteed 1-0 loss against sweden in the most boring game ever, a poor draw against paraguay and just getting into the next round to be sent home on penalties.

EDIT: im predicting a good world cup for the mexicans

Yeh i need a wallchart aswell, the bbc one u can just print off but doesnt look that good tbh. I like stuff quite graphiky

Can't wait. This time 2morrow we'll be all in front of the tele. Well a lot of ppl will neway! Woo!! Go england (on saturday and the rest of the comp)!!

I think there so much expectation well going into the Euros and WCs that it puts a lot of pressure on the team. But hopefully theyll handle it. Could be one of the best chance well have for a while, well at least 4 years for the world cup.

One post from a woman and football goes out the window and we are talking about shoping. Typical.

Get those flags up though. Show support for our boys!

ill be supporting england of course but you have to fear Adrianos (brazil) left foot, i dont think the germans are gonna win and neither spain or italy - France are a decent side but have just lost cisse with another broken leg but meh they got henry and Saha, if they can replicate past form they have a very good chance
