How do i create fairly good fake blood effect? For a costume

Its far from halloween so the proper fake blood is not readily available, anyting i can chuck together at home or anything i can get at regular stores?

I used a few tomato sauce sachet's during a play, where I had to rip someones heart out... I don't know if it'll work in this case...?

Lo-Cost Blood

Add a few drops of red food colouring to the cheapest washing up liquid you can find. Add a drop of blue colouring or some coffee concentrate to create a more realistic colour. Produces a runny blood that has a slight tendency to foam. Great for those bucket of blood effects on the cheap. Washes off reasonably well but tastes foul if you accidently get it in your mouth.

This looks like a good option, i just have to find some colouring

you could experiment with some corn flour to thicken it up

true, the blood alcohol level might be too high or he might have a disease. Scrap that idea. just look for somethings thats warm-blooded, animal perhaps?

Real blood will clot and go brown too quickly to be much use.

ribena and instant coffee with red food colouring - apparently it's what they use on casualty
