Look for SIRF III capability (the newest format - they lock faster and hold signal better than previous SIRF II compatable models)

Well ask yourself this: how many GPS satellites are there? How are they distributed? Do you really think you can see 32 simultaneously?

There wont be any more launched with compatability with current GPS modules, it will all require the new accuracy format which doesnt come out till at least next year (if memory serves).

I have a 16 satellite GPS that I bought a year ago and I have never, in any part of the world, seen more than 9 satellites. I would go for one which has 12-16 and is better quality than one which can cope with 32 satellites but is rubbish....

Thats the point I was trying to make. There are 28 distributed uniformly in space. there is no way you can track 32 - you might get half a dozen but I've seen 8 or 9 max - can't remember which.

I guess the best place to ask that question is on the following forum:

    http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums

These guys are the "experts" and you'll get all the advice you need.

Sorry you didn't get my point - I was trying to say that it doesn't matter how many satellites it claims it can track. If you can only see 5 then you can only track 5. I just didn't make a very good point. my bad.

I bought one of the holox ones from ebay for about £50 inc p&p. I use it with my Windows Smartfone for Tim Tom , smartGPS etc. Works a treat via BT connection to phone. Have also connected it to iBook no probs either. It works inside the car as well, so you don't need to have it on the dashboard.

Any Q's, fell free to ask.
