And now for something completely different!

Myself being someone who likes to keep himself in shape and trim, and computing being a pursuit rather devoid of physical activity beyond the wrist (apart from hauling a rig over to a LAN party), I have to look elsewhere for fitness.

Unfortunately, I recently mashed my left foot and it now doesn't like activity involving high impact.

*Word of advice, when playing football - where shoes. Even when it's just you and two mates. You might find yourself sliding along the ground with your mate standing on your foot.

I was wondering, can any of you guys recommend some kind of sport or exercise that doesn't require me banging my foot, or putting too much strain on it?

Would rather not get fat thanks!

    Cheers.

Swimming is great - I used to do it loads, and used to be a very strong swimmer.

I need to get back into it!

Ah. Weightlifting is okay, but I was thinking of cardio-vascular exercise. I love to swim but I live in Tucson. There are very few indoor pools here (I can't think of one). Since this is the desert, everyone has outdoor pools. Summer temps always exceed 40 deg. c. But it's not summer. In fact it's quite cool right now, and I don't fancy freezing!

Sorry, guys, much appreciated but anything else?

    Cycling?

That will put pressure on your foot though, but not impact - unless you're mountain biking.

weight lifting keeps your metabolism higher for longer in comparison to cardio vascular work. Keep your reps high and weight low and it acts as a cardio work out.

second that use a stationary bike, its not going to hurt your foot or make it worse, and it is still a very good cardio workout

I know this will probably get classed as spam, but:

    lol.

    Heh.

Swimming. Pretty much gives your entire body a work out, improves all over fitness, and you can actually get away with a few 'injuries' so to speak.
