They painted double yellows down our road last year, there was a gap where a car had been when they painted them and the next day someone parked in the gap... warden comes along and slaps a fine on the windscreen, even though the lines clearly stop either side of the car.

    %&@#s

That one's funny though, you could almost see someone doing that as a prank!

I have seen pictures of a parked car that has had double yellow lines painted around it, then a traffic warden put a ticket on it!

FYI you can successfully challenge a ticket for parking on a double yellow line if the lines are broken at any stage of they do not have the "T" bar at the end painted on.

The traffic law states that a double yellow line must be continuos and have a cross bar ("T") at each end. If the lines don't have this then the road is incorectly marked and the lines are in effect invalid. It's a technicality but one that has been successfully used in court.
