Just wandering why it shows as Oas~1.MP3 etc instead of the full song name?

Another thing about sending MP3s, when anyone tries to send me one, it transfers, then says something about 'this file has been blocked because it may be harmful' or something like that, then disappears.
Any ideas anyone? I've googled around for suggestions, but nothing I've tried appears to work :-/
you could zip it first and see if it will send after that?
It does work if I do that, but it's just a bit of a pain in the bum really.Originally Posted by mart_haj86
i can understand that, i find it strange how you have the issue of it saying that the item has been blocked, my only thought is that it may be some kind of anti-virus, anti-spam etc which is blocking it, if not its worthwhile looking through tools and options to see if there is a work around.
I've got AVG running - not thought about trying that though it is a microsoft warning.Originally Posted by mart_haj86
It *could* be an antivirus thing, but I reckon it's trying to stop piracy (even though the majority of MP3s I receive are original compositions from a musically talented teamfishcolleague)
I'm not averse to using an alternative MSN client. I really like using Adium on my Mac at work, but there's not a Windows version sadly.
I've used Trillian and I wasn't really impressed with that TBH. Transfer times were ridiculously slow on it.
There is a windows version of adiumX - it's called Gaim
Adium is just a skinned version of Gaim for OSX (ported from the linux version).
What version of msn are you using?
Aha! I shall have a nosey at Gaim when I get home. Think I'm using MSN 7.5, but I'm not entirely sure.Originally Posted by Spud1

Trillian is great.
The transfer times are slow on MSN anyway, as trillian makes AIM look nice, I use that for sending songs sometimes, which is a lot faster.
Maybe Trillian has improved since I last used it, but last time I tried, I was logged into trillian and was getting 2-3k a second, and it leapt up to about 20 when I immediately switched to MSN.Originally Posted by Yohji
<rant> What i dont like is that sending any file type, to most people, goes really slowly and says "If you are experiencing slow file transfers..etc etc" but to other people it sends fast.
Yet the people it sends slow to, using the exact same file through yahoo messenger, it goes fast! I'd think it was msn's fault but then why should it send fast to some people and not others? Then i'd think its that the people dont have their firewalls configured right, but then why would it send fast through yahoo?
And another rant about msn! We are on wireless....the downstairs pc and this both have the same firewall, go through the same router, use the same version of msn yet they always send fast on the downstairs one, even though this one has a better connection to the router</rant>
