For rechargeable AA battery needs, is a NiMH charger still the best buy?

My sister needs an AA battery charger (and maybe new batts too), should she go with NiMH? Are there any new alternatives out?

Also, does anyone know of any good deals? don't mind buying separate but if there is a charger and batts set for a great price that would be ideal.

its just for general cameras/speakers use etc

I have always bought mine from Argos.

Had a look around there, the most suitable one was this:

    http://www.eurobatteries.com/sitepag...ery%20Chargers

But no batts included and its no better really than the argos one posted by Leon, shame cause the price is attractive.

Or have i missed a better product?

Agreed. NiMH is still the way to go at the moment (and better long term life than Li-ION anyway). Argos is a top shop for that kind of thing.

I'd agree you're better off going to a shop for them as the prices don't seem much better online.

One thing to watch though is the power rating, the higher the mA the longer they will last in a camera or other high current drawing device. Anything below 1800mA isn't really worth it for a camera. You'll probably find one shop may sell at £9.99 and another at £14.99 for what looks like the same package but one will have a lower current output per battery.

I got a 15minute Energizer charger (charges 2500 batteries in 15mins) for £27 delivered off eBay. It came with 4 2100 batteries as well.

I think the shop name was batt-tech or something similar, very good service and an excellent small product. You even get a car adapter too if your on the move.

You could try 7dayshop, that's where I got my AA and AAA NiMH batteries from, reasonable prices there but delivery can be a bit on the slow side.
