    Shock horror - found a good government website!

    Highways Agency has just launched a new traffic status website - its really well done, and seeing as I have a drive this afternoon to do its helped me plan a bit better

    Route planning piece of software I use called Route 66 includes traffic information for most of Europe when online and will re-route the journey accordingly if you are expected to hit a problem; however this is free and certainly more detailed

    Edit; Thinking about it, this is extremely handy, considering its school holidays as of today
