if you can get them - Sony MDR-EX71s are brilliant - though depending on where you buy them, they can be as much as £30, worth it though - I bought (my first pair) about 3 days after they came out, and and now on my second pair (white for the iPod lol)

Well, for a start, I can tell you what not to get.
The Sony MDR-EX71SLB Fontopia Headphones . Even though they offer a brilliant quality of sound for the price they are, Sony have reduced the build quality of them so that the rubber material covering the wire seems to deteriorate in a short space of time and literally just rots away leaving the bare wire exposed. This happened to my headphones after 3 months of very careful use.
If you go to the amazon page for these headphones, read the reviews, well over 100+ reviews stating the same problem.
I am interested in getting these:

Hope that has helped.
cheers guys thats excellent:
i was going to go for the sony ones but they just went a little out of budget for me :undecided
i decided to go for the Sennheiser ones in the end, ive already got some of the wireless Sennheiser ones and am very impressed so hopefully they wont let me down
thanks as always :)
uchiha_itachi - this used to be the case, however its changed...
I bought mine almost a year ago and had that problem with the cable - with two sets..But I couldnt find anythign else for the price that had the same sound quality, so risked another set (as a free replacement this time).
They have changed the cable material :D Now its much more like a 'normal' headphone cable, that doesnt rot or rip or fall apart when you touch it..so once again we can reccomend them :)
get osme of the cheap sennheisers. v nice.
Hmm, I'm intrigued, and how did you get a fee replacement? I still have my box and warranty card, do I have to contact Sony, or did you get the replacements another way? Any advice in this department would be very much appreciated.Quote:

or failing that try sony :) you never know..If your worried about getting the same ones with the old cord, try explaining to the retailer..I would argue that the old style are not fit for purpose, since frequent use causes this problem no matter how careful you are.
Creative EP-630 £13
Just saw someone review them here

Dave87 is right on because I've been rockin the sony's for a year or two. I miss placed them, bought back-ups, then found the originals. I love them. Even bought and gave them as gifts to the in-laws, now that's love..
