o sorry for ignoring your OP but yeah most places they can speak good english so you wont have any problem asking for a conro chip, However ask for the price in more than one shop because some places will screw you while others you will find a good bargain.

yeah hk's lifetsyle is totally different, i think i prefer. If only the weather was cooler and the air less poluted. To answer your question we did go to a components centre where there was about 30 shops selling computer stuff, however i didnt check the prices for fear of buying something. Waiting for the conroe u see.

I'm in HK atm , and was also thinking about getting a conroe from here. The e6600 is coming out late august i think. although i'm going back to golden tomorrow to check and see what stugg i can buy.

price don't differ too much tbh, but with the e6300 the guy said they had quite a lot of stock last week- price was $1540, although this was the list rpice, im sure i can bargain him down a little bit.

Yuo can check a lot of prices through this site, there used to be an english version but i cant find it atm:

In an area in Kowloon called Sham Shui Po, there's MTR stations there, but best to get a taxi to take you directly to the entrance of the Golden Centre.

You can haggle for the price, saying things like "the other store around the corner does it for....", or ask them to throw in something.

TBH, as soon as they see you are a white person, they won't move much off the price, or even try to flog you off with a higher price by saying that the price stated is for something different.
