Oh good another prescriptive person in the world. I'm sooo happy.
Please enlighten yourself and go study proper Linguistics at a Uni that prefers a scientific approach![]()

Prescriptive written English *is* important. Yes, it's a living language that needs to be able to change and grow, but it doesn't grow because people are too ignorant to know the difference between two words with very different meanings.

Also, I think it's CRIMINAL that professional sign writers spell words wrong. It should be the LAW that someone whose job it is to make a sign with words on should be at least able to spell.
Most grammar mistakes used in everyday life don't particularly bother me, as the English language can be a bit daft at times, but if you're taking money from someone who relies upon you to create a sign that advertises your business, it shouldn't be too much to expect them to be able to use the English language properly.
There's a place near me with a sign advertising it as a 'Delicatessan'. I will try and get a photo of it for you![]()
They've taken it down now, but there was a video rental place near me which had a sign up saying:
video's video's video's
