    Film four are doing a season of 8 Studio Gibli films. The showtimes are:

    The castle of Cagliostro -> Fri 4 @ 4.55pm or Thu 17 @ 5.10pm

    Kiki's delivery service -> Sat 5 @ 4.45pm or Mon 14 @ 5.05pm

    Princess Mononoke -> Sun 6 @ 4.30pm or Fri 11 @ 4.45pm

    Laputa: Castle in the sky -> Mon 7 @ 4.55pm or Sun 13 @ 4.55pm

    My Neighbour Totoro -> Tue 8 @ 5.10pm or Sat 12 @ 5.05pm

    Nausicaa of the valley of the winds -> Wed 9 @ 4.45pm or Tue 15 @ 4.45pm

    Porco Rosso -> Thu 10 @ 5.15pm or Wed 16 @ 4.45pm
    (Dates & times in August)

    I have been recording each one as it was broadcast, and have been watching them. I am currently half way through Kiki's delivery service, and it is very good. The cartoons are much better than the usual american junk. I will probably keep the recordings and turn them into DVDs.

    I can never get into Anime, I just really can't. But I think I'll give it another go with this film!

    Are they subbed or dubbed? If dubbed that kinda sucks, i prefer to hear the original Japanese but i'll still give it a look!

    The first two they broadcast where dubbed not subtitled

    For live action films, I definitely prefer subtitled, as I find it jarring to watch the actors with the dialogue a bit out of sync, but for cartoons I don't think it matters much. as the lip sync is less important, and in any case you don't see the actors speaking the lines.

    Yeah, I saw Kiki's delivery Service yesterday and I loved it. I'm hoping to get some of the other Studio Ghibli stuff on DVD. I've already got My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away so quite a few to get still.

    As a personal matter of opinion, I'd disagree - not on the lip sync issue, but more the effect of originating dialogue. I think its just weird for anything that is meant to come from Japan (or Korea, or whereever you want) has a different dialogue slapped onto it, it detracts so much from what the original can radiate.

    Although, I was offered another perspective on this recently when a mate bought Police Story 1 & 2 and insisted on watching them DUBBED. Now the actual preference came from the way he remembered them, watching them when he was younger because they were DUBBED. This is much like me watching anime in chinese (although I have to say the difference between chinese dub and english dub is very big only because japanese is so similar), and watching something like Transformers in chinese - although even I think thought it sounded daft.

    Keep everything in original languages!

    Spirited Away is a much better 'family' film.

    If you want a rip-roaring action story, with a giant stone ninja and blind samurai, then watch 'Ninja Scroll' it's fantastic....

    ******SPOILER******

    ...how can you beat a film where one character headbutts another to death???
