What a great race it was too, action packed from start to finish.

Schumacher had a great chance to close the gap on Alonso, he should have let De La Rosa and Heidfeld through.

    Great driving throughout by Button!

Fair play to the kid,.... one of the only F1 races I've watched in ages and he deserved it... when my dad heard he said ahh only 'cos shoey and that other bloke retired... but he fought well and could have won even if alonso stayed in, he was catching him like nobodys business in a worse car. Good on him

Well done to him, but it doesn't change my opinion that F1 over the last 10 years has become a pretty boring procession where the winner is the one with the best pit strategy. Yawn. Give me touring cars or superbikes any day.

Deserved to win it, drove fantasically all race. One of the best races I have seen for a while, easliy the best one I have caught this season. Fatastic tactics by Honda that small fuel stop was exactly what he needed allowing him to change on the dry tyres when he needed them and save time on the stop.

I have watched every race this season and this was by far the best, so glad it rained. Showed just how good F1 can be

Great race! Definitely the best one of the season. Well done to Button.

Good to see some different faces on the podium. Glad Schumacher didn't finish there.

I remember him on top gear not long ago he'd give up all the money etc for his first win. Good on the lad, think I'll watch the highlights later.

This set me thinking, general opinion is this race was good.

This was due to the rain, therefore decreased grip. If F1 is so difficult to overtake in, then drastically reduce aerodynamic aids. Ally this with much narrower and harder tyres and you've got what people watch F1 for? Closer racing, more overtaking and drivers having to drive smoothly and cleanly to make the best of what's under them.

    Just a thought, Bernie.

    Just a thought, Bernie.
This is what the FIA have been trying to do for years with restrictions on the cars. For example dry tyres must have groves in them to reduce the amount of mechanical grip and then there are various restrictions on the front and rear wings to reduce the amount of aerodynamic grip.

The problem is that the F1 teams always find ways around these restrictions and then your back to square one.

Well done Jenson let this be the first of many. I agree with most of the above, this was the best race of 2006.

great performance by Jenson although lets not get to excited, he's been relatively poor all season and prob will go back to being just average again for the rest of the season - i didnt see the race just some highlights didnt look like some of the big guns came out today

tbh its not really been him but the car that's let him down lots this year. I'm hoping he will stay with Honda as I can see them doing well next year.
