Well I'm all for the powersellers going off to another site, might make it easier to find a proper 2nd-hand bargain on eBay. The small traders who run on eBay have their uses when you're looking for odd rare items at times, but it would be nice to separate them out from individual sellers.

It's all about breaking the monopoly. Google is one of the only companies with the brand/trust/resources etc to set up a real alternative to ebay. Google Base is a start but they're just not pushing it. With two major players in the online auction market it could only be good for reducing fees and driving innovation etc.

without competition, ebay have gotten too complacent counting their money.

i loved using paypal when it first came out and now i'm forced to use it and watch ebay cream off their share of every transaction.

come on google, get in the game.

ebid - http://uk.ebid.net/ - appears to slowly be getting bigger. Still nowhere near ebay, but probably worth a look.
