my parents normally goes up on xmas eve or the day before, along with all the other decorations. im not really into that kinda stuff so i probably wont bother in my flat - might get a small fake tree to go on the windowsill or something but nowt else
Normally put up the first weekend in december here. Although there is 'set' days that it should go up and down on. Not got a clue when they are.
Call me sad if you want but i never got into the whole christmas spirit. I wouldn't put one up, its my mum that does.
*edit* d'oh wrong month. Its december not november!!!!!!
Wow the first weekened in November is Kind of early.....at least it's not like putting lights on the outside of your house and going for the 'Blackpool' effect!
I think trees can be nice, but when people get the 10" santa out with 10,000 lights at 00.01 on December 1st it's a bit sad....
Yeah is a bit early, m mum really likes her trees :p
Theres two houses just around the cornor form me that do just that. Lights/santas all over the outside of the house. It's like they're trying to outdo each other every year.
Ill try to get some pics this year.
I think it should be the day advent starts..... I know it isnt, but I think it should be!
I think proper advent starts 12 days before Christmas....as in the song?
I could be wrong.
We don't put our tree up until a couple of weeks before Christmas at the most. It doesn't feel as special if it's up for half the year! Also it gets taken down right after new year as I don't like it hanging about too long...
12 days of xmas start on 25th december, afaik
Just been told it's meant to go up on christmas eve, and come down on the 6th of jan.
Hence the 12 days of christmas!
I thought it was something like that.
We've adapted it to the 12 days before christmas
and down the 12th night after.
Maybe I'll ask Sanya
Our decorations go up around the start of december :p
Thats next week
Mate of mine already has his up (crazy fool).
Apparently (according to women in office) there is no official day of them going up but you should take them down 12 days after.
Ours usually goes up on the second week of december :) Once my room is decorated I'l be having my little white tree up! :D
I would just like to point out that i made a slight muck up.
I meant december not november!!! Were not that wierd honest :p
Usually sometime at the end of the first week of december, then we take them down sometime in the week after new years :)
I think advertising of Christmas related stuff should be banned until at least the last week of November too.
The whole Christmas spirit has been ruined by the over-commercialisation, you get christmas stuff appearing at the end of August ffs, then by the time it actually gets here you're fed up of it already..
christmas eve ;) , well usually when we can be bothered ( a week or 2 befor christmas)
i have a blow up tree somewhere...takes 2mins to blow up and thats me done :)
and it doesn't drop bloody needles all over the carpet!!
I think 'officially' it should go up today - advent sunday.
soon as Sainsburys do their place.. If you cant beat 'em join 'em
There should be a law to stop shops esp gardening shops putting up christmas decordations before the 1st weekend in december
BHS are the worst! the one in St Albans Hertfordshire decorated theirs in late october. Now THAT takes the piss!!!!!
If i had my way it would be illegal to put any decorations up till at least the 1st of December otherwise you get bored when it actually comes if they go up any earlier!!
Well thats my opinion any way :D
Our Garden Centre won the BBC Radio 4 best Garden Centre thing award this year...I wonder if it's because they had their Christmas shop open in October.
