    Cheapest place for XP Pro?

I'm entitled to buy software with a student license and was wondering where the cheapest place to get a legit copy of the above would be?

    Thanks gang!

don't think that you get a cheap student licence for MS OS like you do with Office so afaik it's an OEM copy
Perhaps your educational establishment has a volume licence of some kind for student use?

Like Buff says, don't think you can (fairly sure you used to be able to) but for other stuff, go here:

I got mine from dabs.com - worth a look even if they are now owned by BT. Otherwise Scan are usually pretty competitive

Yeh, I would always go for scan, even if you find it cheaper somewhere else.
Hell, I'm starting to sound like a fanboy.
    With love and many thanks,

tbh Windows XP Pro OEM is going to be roughly the same price wherever you go give or take a pound here or pound there.

Yes but different retailers have different interpertaions of what hardware you have to buy with it in order to qualify as OEM.

I know scan insist you buy a Motherboard, CPU or Hard drive, but I have heard that some places will let you have the OS with just a cheap £5 mouse or suchlike.

Micro Direct usually sell it with a mouse. Not sure if they're technically allowed to, but it won't affect your license anyway

You can get Windows MCE for around the same money, which is built on Pro, scan is good as alwase to buy it OEM, with a power cable or something

Strangely enough on offer at the moment, but make sure you buy some qualifying hardware with it of course
