Where do I stand with city link?

I ordered some speakers from my friends company yesterday and asked for saturday delivery, but it is now coming up on there website with "The goods have been returned to the branch after an unsuccessful delivery attempt."

This is really annoying as its cost me £19 to request saturday delivery and theyve failed to deliver.

My question is, whats the best thing for me to do as they will now try and drop the item off on monday but I will be at work and who do I goto for a refund on the £19 theyve really rocked my world!

Contact them and arrange suitable delivery time. In the mean time your friends company should be able to get a refund from city link and then refund you.

Wouldnt suprise me if they did go to the wrong house, but I havent seen a citylink van around all day, so maybe its because its a new estate that not a lot of people know of. That should be no excuse though, surely these drivers get provided with a-z's

    Or even sat nav

Saying that tho sat nav might give some drivers more trouble.

sat navs and maps dont show new houses straight away !

im a delivery driver at the mo and my last job involved having to phone ahead for directions, this job has grid co-ordinates so i can home in on a map and a field normally means a new estate !

pain in the ass at times.

i understand that it might not show up but on either case a phone call off someone would have been nice. i would have quite happily given directions.

city link dont have the time for that, there pushed to the limits as is. they will try to redeliver monday, i think they try a 2nd time and then hold it for a few more days b4 returning to sender, so if you dont get it monday you should be able to pick it up from the local depot that night.
ring em 1st thing monday and explain the situation, arrange to collect monday last thing its 6-8pm depending on branch in the week, and you have to leave it late as some drivers go straight onto collections and have a 10 hour day, so wont return until 4pm.
once you tell em its a new estate and they never showed up as you waited in, contact the seller who will have to chase the refund and pay you back.

They'll only deliver to an alternative address if the sender contacts them to change the address. The alternative is to try and get a real telephone number for the depot and play hell with the manager in order to get the delivery addy changed due to their inefficiency. This has worked for me in the past when they've maffed up.

Which they tend to do with greater regularity than any other delivery company I deal with.

Well get this then... I caught City Link out red handed last week...

I ordered some stuff from a company with next day delivery. I waited in at home but the item did not arrive. Later that day i got an email the company i bought it from saying they had got an email (he even forwarded the message to me) from City Link saving that they tried to deliver but noone was at home. Odd, i was there alday and there was no way i could have missed them.

Then later that day i popped into town for something else and actually bumped into the City Link man in his van outside a retail park. I stopped him and asked if he had my item. He did and then gave it to me. When he gave it to me he pratically admited he never even tried delivery it because he was to busy and could not get everything delivered that day. Rather than lose money buy not meeting the terms for thier contacts, they clearly lie about customers not being in etc.

I was pleased to get my item, but reported this to the company i bought them from. I actually spoke to the MD and he was very angry with City Link and said that this is not the first time this has happend. He also said that he used to get stuff nicked by a City Link driver(s) in one area too. But basically, he will keep using them because they are so cheap.
