    Spiderman loses a leg

3am wondered into the loo to relieve some beer glanced down and this badboy was 2inch from my foot. so i thought before the fight I would take a picture.

it ended up with him having a new home outside and loosing a leg. I spent the rest of the night dreaming of his imminent revenge

My son's a wee bit scared of spiders, so to prove a point I had to carry one of those things out in my hands....now, I'm not one who suffers from any particular fear of our eight legged web dwellers, but it was creepy. I can't believe a spider that size isn't able to inflict some level of damage....

    What, safe for the spider?

I think so though maybe not for a really big one. Air resistance keeps their speed from reaching a point where the landing will damage them. I think some spiders shoot out a thread of web when they fall to create extra drag, and some small ones actually 'fly' using this method which is why you sometimes feel a web on your face even though you are walking in open space.

Whoa!!!! that's where Legless went!!!! he moved in with you

We had a Spider in our bathrom identical to him, he wasn't for moving out.
Our youngest son who was four at the time didn't like him at first, I was **** scared of 'em at the time but I couldn't react to it, so I told Luke "Awwwww he's only got 7 legs, poor thing" Luke felt sorry for him after that and named him Legless, he'd even go around catching flies to feed Legless with, he'd sit in the bathroom for ages chattering away to him it was sooo sweet. He cried when Legless disapearred, only to have him reappear again 6 months later ( i'm sure it was a different Spider, but Luke was convinced it was Legless )

I have a similiar spider in my room at home that has made a webby mess on top of the curtain rail and he is really useful! Whenever I get flies in my room they dash for the window, rebound off and naturally fly up to have another go and get caught. We're talking about big bloody country blue bottle type flies here as well! He then disposes of them for me, so I never have an annoying fly in my room for more than about 5 minutes The only thing I am slightly worried about is he is a she and I end up with loads of them in my room...

I found a spider the other day when I was cleaning out a load of old plant pots in my back garden. It was the biggest spider I'd ever seen outside of a zoo. It's body must have been over an inch long and it looked similar to the one above, except fatter.

I chased my wife round the garden with it for a bit, (she hates spiders, and I just couldn't help myself) then chucked it in the front garden where the kids don't often go.

Perhaps it's tall he warm weather we've been having recently that's encouraging them to get so big?

Oh heck!!! I hope that's not true, I don't like living things being harmed no matter how creepy

I heard that the buggers can survive in space

And I know their skeleton is on the outside of their body! and their anatomy layout is well weird, they have a big heart that covers the whole of their back!!! how weird is that!!!! I read all about them once! It's called knowing your enemy
creepy weird things they are with their 8 eyes and 8 legs

But although I made friends with the big Idey Spideys, I still don't like these crawly house things.... thought I could pick one up no trouble after holding that Tarantula.... no such luck!!! I freaked out again I want a Tarantula so I can feed all these creepy house Spideys to it!
( yes I know I said I didn't want any harmed! using them for food is different )

im not gonna tempt fate and say i havent seen many spiders recently.

Man, last summer though I was living alone while working in kent and just before I was about to go to bed there was the biggest spider I've ever seen above the doorway. The fact Im not great with spiders certainly didnt help me sleep that night :/
