so stick to a good lever rather than cylinder lock ...
Just buy a german shephard. My back door is rarely locked. Even people who aren't scared of dogs back away when he stands up.
just another scare story though, you have more to worry about from being ****ed by the insurance than by burgled.
Well this is the thing - 'bump' keys etc are no more of a problem than locksmiths etc have ever been. All that locks (and almost every security measure in this country) do is prevent against casual crime - the opportunist/local guy having a go. If a criminal wants to get into your house s/he will do it - either hiring a locksmith or smashing their way in...
You are never going to be protected against serious criminals Best thing is to just not worry about it..
and get insurance....
HEXUS FOLDING TEAM It's EASY
which is the point about bumping, insurance claims are impossible as theres no signs of forced entry....Originally Posted by G4Z

Which is also the case in key theft/cloning, carding old locks etcOriginally Posted by shiato storm
From that article (and reading around a bit now) bumping seems to normally leave some sort of evidence anyway - lock damage etc.
I still really wouldn't worry about this though, not a new thing, nothings changed - except that we now know about it..
I fail to see how a person who is employed to herd sheep could prevent someone breaking and entering.Originally Posted by chuckskull

I fail to see how you have an inability to tell the difference between a person and a canine.
Edit: Oh dammit I misread the sentence

Saw this a couple of weeks ago, interesting!
No. The bump key doesn't usually leave any evidence behind, that's why people are worried when it comes to insurance.Originally Posted by Spud1
The only possible evidence the bump key could leave behind is the mark where the shoulder of the key hits the lock.. and even then if you have a good strong proper lock it won't show up (cheap locks with softer metals will though if the person bumping the lock isn't careful).

If you broke into a house and there was a 'german shephard' lying on the floor chewing his ass, you'd leave wouldn't youOriginally Posted by Mike Fishcake
Maybe we should just use our alarm systems!?
Also, asuming you get back to your burgled house before anyone else you could break in yourself
