"Cut your own Hair" Crew, what clippers do you use and recommend?

I have quite thick/strong hair, i would like cordless clippers but maybe they lack the power?

What do you recommend, i want something that can really power through it, like the ones they use at Barber shops, those guys seem to just go at it and the clippers handle it all!

With home ones i've used in the past i've sometimes gone too fast and it pinches/pulls the hair out because it can't handle it, which never happens with the barber shop ones.

    Hope you guys can help!

I'd say buy wired ones, would be too much hassle using wireless ones.. plus, as you said, they may lack the power (although I haven't used wireless ones before).

Some cheap ones for a tenner from Tesco should do the job though.

Avoid all cheap ones and buy a wahl as these are the ones used in a barbers.
    They give an excellent cut.

Try the following site/pages as they seem to have a few.

    Good luck.

I got some from Argos, pretty sure they are Wahl and were about £20. Great investment, saves loads on haircuts plus they have lasted about 4 years and still going strong.

I got a remington from argos - poor investment. First 3 or 4 cuts were ok but after that the thing would jam. Just got a wahl - haven't used it yet...

And this is why you should never ask for help on anything non-techy on this forum; because someone will always say 'just get a cheap one and you'll be sorted'.

Yeah, i have some Wahl ones, but i think they are refurb, and annoyingly heats up after about 15mins of use, to the point you can't hold them. And then theres the comb/cutting attachment things, they arent very smooth and hurt when they dig into the scalp.

I think i'm going invest in some new ones, Wahl i guess? No remington?

Wahl or Babyliss are what you want. Get Ceramic blades if you can. Get mine from Makro for £dirtycheap and they are great.

I bought a remington cordless from argos a few years back with ceramic blades, its the one that suffered from pulling my hair out when i fed it too much, i had to be very careful...probably not a fault of the ceramic blades, probably the battery thing

    Whats makro?

Wahl ones are good, I don't cut my hair myself now but did a couple of years ago when I had my arm strapped to my chest for 8 weeks! I bought a Wahl set for around £25 from Boots which came with all the clip on combs and scissors and oil. Number 1 all over only took 5 mins and that was one handed and they don't leave too many stray hairs orpull hairs!

Oh, and as a side note, if you are planning to use them to trim your more intimate hair make sure you buy clippers that wont cut you when they snag skin! Buy a styler/ beard trimmer, not wahl barbers clippers! Trust me!
