First Gillette launched a razor with three blades, and the world was in awe.
Then Wilkinson Sword just the proverbial and launched a razor with four blades.
Gillette must have decided it was about time to respond, with the 'Fusion', which has FIVE blades, six if you count the 'precision trimmer'.
I wish I could find that picture I made of the Gillette Mach 10...

I use the gillete 3-blade one, they're nice in comparison to the one-off ones. I change the head once the blue/green shaving goo wears off the strip above the blades - ie they last about 8 shaves.
i cant what difference on performance they can possibly have, i have a mach 3 at the moment with 3 blades and it shaves incredibly close
For some reason, the blue/green gunk never seems to wear off mine. i just change the blades when it gets sore to shave.
I got on of those Fusion things for free and I can honestly say that it is the most pointless thing ever.
I usually use the good old fashioned razors so I don't know if this is anything special but it does have like a flexible joint on it which makes it a bit easier to use.
So how long before a six bladed razor appears?

Schick!? its like a cross between a sh** and a di**.
The theory behind more blades (imo) is that it doesnt get clogged up so quick, and so lasts longer.. i guess most people dont bother cleaning them with a toothpick... - and they dont want you too becuase they would lose money = why they put the annoying wire bits across the blades (seen many that dont have them) and make it harder to clean them.
blades really dont get blunt very quick they just get clogged up and mine last a month or two if i shave every few days and then they are still sharp - just the wire bits get out of place.
More blades is going to make it too sharp when its new and cut you a lot more.
nevr had to clean mine with anything more than a swift shak in the basin full of water. cleans it perfectly.
doesnt one of them vibrate as well lol

I've moved on to shaving with hair clippers, I do my whole face and head more or less every morning. Is that odd?
Ahh, only 5... 6 will be soon, but as a stop gap, they still have to add the vibrating feature to the 5 blader, as they mysteriously left it out from going from 4 to 5... 5 vibration is next... then 6.. then 6 vibration... then... on and on until the batteries and blades will be that ridiuclous it will be cheaper to get laser surgery to permanemtly remove the hair for youQuote:

The best thing, so far for me, is that I definitely am getting an easier shave, less drag, no nicks - which means that I can shave more quickly, so despite the much higher price of blades, I will be changing to Fusion.
Yep this diffenently gives a smoother shave but at £15 for 8 cartridges its rather steep as one last just about a week before becoming useless.
15 pound, i saw 8 for 20 pound the other day :surprised:
It's a joke, they give the shaver away (They did with the Quatro) and nail you with the blades.
Yes, my sentiments exactly... With more and more blades and more and more technology going into these things they are becoming increasingly expensive...
Anyone still use the single switchblade style shavers?(don't know exactly what they call em but atleast you can resharpen them!)

can't beat Wilkinson Sword Extra 2 Sensitive coz its got " Push-clean bar to clean off debris between the blades" and Extra 2 has been designed for precision and to help you get into all those tricky to reach areas.........

i usually use a mach3 but my other half went shopping the other day and brought me back a fusion and i have to say it actually did give me a better shave!
it was not necessarily closer but it felt more comfortable and left no shaving rash at all!
so the fusion gets two thumbs up from me!
You shouldn't shave like they do in the adverts anyway. Shave first in the diection the hair grows, and then for a closer shave, do it at 90degrees to the direction it gorwn. Shaving against the hair helps it get caught in the raser and is more likely to pull. Also it will pull it out slightly before chopping it off at the base, meaning you are more likely to get in gorwing hairs too.Quote:

I distinctly remember the ads for twin-blades that claimed the advantage was that they did just that - the first blade shaves you close (animation of blade pulling hair out and cutting it); the second shaves you closer (animation of 2nd blade cutting the hair again and the hair then slipping back in with the end below the skin).Quote:

I still have a mach 3 - still with the same razors I bought it with - and thats going on 5 years. . . . if it still cuts, it still does the job.

My humble opinion is one face one blade. Have you ever considered the advantages of switching to DE Blades? Cost per shave approx 3 pp.

I just buy Wilkinson Sword disposable razors with 2 blades myself. I used to have a Wilkinson Sword Protector 3D but it was so **** and the blades were expensive. I would love to own a cut throat razor though. Although I've heard they take a bit of mastering. Maybe one day I'll get round to buying one.
