Actually calls of this nature made the local Advertiser paper and Trading Standards have requested for any details of any calls recieved (especially as it charged £15. Give me a few days and I'll see what tel. no that was.)

^^ A while ago a similar story made the local Advertiser paper found within Manchester regions, stating that many families were caught out and ended up with a STANDARD £15 (per call) phone charge for calling the provided number.
Trading Standards then looked into the case and was asking for more witnesses etc to come forward.
I'll try and find the article and post the original number there (maybe a scan.)
The majority of these "I got charged £500000 by pressing 9" (does anyone else remember that ? are utter rubbish :)
Not sure if the maximum call rate has changed in the UK, but it used to be £1.50/min. I suspect it may have been dropped though.
pretty sure at the end of the dat 1.50 isnt the maximum call charge these days, could be wrong but ive been charged more than that before
