    Cheapish accomadation in London?

Right, at the moment I'm trying to organise a trip down to London for a mate of mines birthday in November, we'll be heading down on a friday morning and coming back on the sunday so we'll need somewhere cheap as chips to stay for a couple of nights, doesn't have to be a 7 star hotel just a bed and a shower would be good as we'll be out pretty much all the time, just need somewhere to crash at night.

It doesn't neccasarily need to be right in the centre, but it can't be too far away as thats where we'll prolly spend a fair bit of time.

Also anyone know any decent rock clubs/bar or any good places to check out?

Depends on your price range... when i've gone to a couple of gigs in Finchley, i've used the Comfort Inn - but that's not cheap. (Not dear for London though!)

When I went to germany, cheap as chips, we stayed in Youth Hostels for a couple of nights, which werent actually that bad, you could try something like that in London. Ok, its not the Ritz, but its pretty damn cheap

The price range is cheap as possible basically, I know londons expensive though so even the cheaper places are gonna cost a few quid, just looking for some recomendations.

not sure about places to stay, but I could help out on good venues to check out. Are you interested in live gigs at all?
Well, I can cut it in half!

You could try this web site :
    http://www.gumtree.com/

last time I went to london, manage to get a flat (for 3 people) for £130 per week.

    HyeongSeong, I assume you mean £130 each i.e. 130x3 = £390 a week rather than £130 split between 3 of year i.e. £43 a week each

    http://www.londontown.com/hotels/

Used these guys for a stag weekend and stayed on the edge of Hyde Park for £70 for a twin, it got well used and was well worth the money

Have heard of other people having used the site and getting nice good hotels so have a go.

Even £130 each a week is cheap in London, if you're in zone 1, especially compared to hotels.

My first thought was also Gumtree, however it's typically in weeks, not days, as people go on holidays they want a room filler.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone knows any decent rock places too, I struggle to find anything decent.

There's a international student hostel at the top of Great Portland street, right next o regent park and some tube stations...put's you about 5 mins away from everything on the tube, and only about 30/40 mins walk from Picadilly if you fancy going by foot....I don't know if there are any restrictions if you aren't a student, but they're open 24/7 so they're great if you're planning on staying out late...

You can come across to my neck of the woods (West Acton) and visit the infamous Redback Tavern where all the aussies hang out....but it's a bit of a treck...

I found this place once when a bunch of us were off to London:
    www.regentpalacehotel.co.uk

It cost us £45 for a 3-bed room, so £15 each. Pretty good going for it's location. The only drawback I thought was the bathrooms are down the hall, not in the room, but I never met anyone else in there anyway and couldn't really complain for that price and right on Picadilly Circus.

99 Flake was there too, maybe he can give his views on the place...

I have NOTHING against Youth Hostels (in fact I'm a life member of the YHA) But for god's sake if you do stay in one, take yer own bog roll

NB: Lesson learned the hard way
