Monkey threw stone at zoo visitor

A Brazilian woman is considering suing a zoo after a monkey threw a stone at her.

Regiane Viana, 25, needed hospital treatment after she was hit on the head at Rio de Janeiro Zoo.

She told O Dia newspaper that she had recovered from her injuries but had been shocked by the incident.

A spokesperson for the zoo said: "It was unbelievable, the monkey threw a rock at this woman out of the blue.

"We never had this before, but we have to investigate and find out how he learn this trick, soon people will think not even Rio's zoo is safe anymore, even the animals are getting violent!"
If I was stuck in a cage all day I would also throw stones and people annoying me with cameras and noise.....

Monkeys are so cool. I think we should introduce wild monkeys to the UK so they can roam the streets beating up gangs of youth that just hang around on street corners.

In China, in regions where Monkeys are common, all the locals carry sticks so that they can scare the monkeys away. A friend of mine was attacked by four monkeys in China as he didn't have a stick on him, luckily some locals came along and got rid of the monkeys.

heh, the last time I went to a zoo I was told not to show my teeth to the monkeys, as it would be seen as threatening his supremacy, and he would then go and either beat up another monkey or decide it was time to procreate....

Like the monkies at Gibraltar I saw when I went in March with the girlfriend. Someone was teasing this old monkey, mind he was huge for a monkey. It obviously got miffed it was being teased and the dude got punched in the chin by the monkey knocking him to the floor. I couldn't help but make a comment about it whilst laughing my head off.

She's lucky it was only a stone that came her way. Usually they throw crap!

A friend of mine works at Chester Zoo, and the chimps there know they can barter rocks and dangerous objects for food with the keepers. They're nasty things though Chimps, they can be terribly cruel and when fights kick off it's proper full on beatings!

The zookeepers in Rio should make the enclosure safer, they shouldn't easily be able to find rocks that are throwable.

when i was a kid, my sister took me to belle vue zoo in manchester and an elephant threw a brick at us, luckily, the elephant didnt have it's contact lenses in, so it missed and hit a bench. ha, unlucky big ears.
