Thunder Storms in South Essex.
Anyone catch the thunder storms earlier? About 20:45?
Best I have seen for a while, loads of fork lightning lit the sky for nearly an hour right overhead Southend. Massive bolts too, one after the other!
Heavy rain as well, really cleared the air! Nice!

Looked really good here in Brantham. Major road floodage, Manningtree rail bridge was still closed this morn @ 5:30am

Yup, we had it here in Hockley - was quite funny, as it decided to flood the porch, before my sister had got in

I love thunder/lightning etc, best lightning i've seen was 5 years ago in Portugal - we were on a bus heading to our hotel at about midnight and it was the most stunning thing i've ever seen!

It was crazy here in Surrey last night, from about 10:30 through to about midnight, lightning every five seconds and mental rain... I love it, when I'm not in it

It was also torrential in SW London. Wimbledon was very wet this am and the ponds on the common even had some water in!

Had the same, obviouly, as I'm only a few miles away from you. Went outside to have a ciggy, ended up staying outside for half an hour watching the amazing fork lightning!

We had them for 2 hours last night. I did try and get some good pictures but with no luck.
Its the worst I have ever seen.
I had to drive a bus through the preliminary hard rain, which was a nightmare as you can barely see out of your mirrors. When I set off home on the bike it wasn't raining, but I put my £9.99 lidl waterproofs on just in case. Riding home, there was a sheet lightning flash about every 10s- then about two miles from home it started absolutely hurling down, serious monsoon type walls of water. I came across three cars doing 15 mph, presumably because they couldn't see. So I overtook them, obviously. When I was riding up the South Circular to my house, it was literally like riding up a shallow river- I followed a tipper truck and it had a huge bow wave going all the way- anyone on the pavement would have been drenched, if they weren't already.
Amazingly my Lidl waterproofs held- apart from a leak right above my groin

That's a biking thing that.. you'll always get off looking like you've wet yourself
