    Thrash/Death metal recommendations?

Metal fans of Hexus, I need your help...

For reasons too long and dull to go into here, the past few weeks have been pretty bad for me - been feeling overly anxious and panicky and trying my best to keep calm.

I've even gone as far as aquiring some (don't laugh) ambient aural soundscapes, sea sounds, rainforest etc to try and keep my calm, and they worked to a certain extent.

However, yesterday quite by accident, my itunes playlist decided to serve me up The Berzerker's cover of Carcass' "Corporal Jigsore Quandary" and, in an insane way that I just can't describe in words, I felt immediately better. Seriously, it would have freaked me out if it hadn't had such a positive effect on me. So yesterday, I was blasting out the Berzerker's albums and "Serpents of the light" by Deicide at top volume and I really felt the best I've felt in the past few weeks. It sounds stupid, but the effect was almost magical.

Basically, I'm now looking for some fantastic thumping screaming death/thrash type metal to listen to, to "help me on my way to recovery".

So, recommend me some CDs to buy. It doesn't have to be original, and I'm not really looking for anything avant-garde or 'challenging', just something that gets the adrenaline going.

Actually, I know it's not really thrash or death metal, but I may give some RATM a try tonight as well

Was gonna suggest The Berzerker. Others:

Dark Funeral (see if you like there songs on myspace...666 voices is my favourite)

Shape Of Dispair (Not exactly thrash, they are a subgenre of Doom metal called Funeral Doom, but you may like them nonetheless)

Nargaroth (if you can find anything)

and some others off a cd i have:

    December
    Decapitated
    December Wolves
    Ephal Duath

And then you can check mp3 samples of many of the bands here:

There's some for you to go along with.

Yeah I know I was in there last week and it was like I was babysitting

This weeks going to be worse as all the freshers should be back now.

    Saying that I'm not complaining

After reading some of these recommendations, it actually reminded me how much of this stuff I have or have had... Still got a few FF CDs, Ministry's Psalm 69 (to give it it's English title ) is an absolute classic... I mean I'm not too fussy about sticking solely to thrash and/or death genres - anything with balls basically. Gonna go on ebay now and buy a load of CDs that I previously sold like a fool... things like Machine Head and White 'Yyyyeeeahhh' Zombie, the first slipknot album etc...

Glad to see Terrorizer magazine is still going anyway. Not bought that for years!

On the grounds that it's not death or thrash, I hope, I won't hear LD 50 criticised, there's some insanely superb rhythm parts on that album. Equally a *lot* of bands mentioned above I wouldn't consider "thrash" or "death", but I'm not going to pedant (for once) .

Anyway, on the new criterion of "energetic":

Machine Head - Burn My Eyes (someone mentioned Fear Factory and not this?!)
Lamb of God (not a personal fave, but they certainly fit what you're after)
Opeth - Blackwater Park (technically prog-death, but sodding brilliant, along with everything else they've done)
    Soilwork - A Predator's Portrait
At The Gates - Slaughter of The Soul or Terminal Spirit Disease
EARLY In Flames (new stuff is rubbish in comparison)
    Arch Enemy
    Slipknot - The Subliminal Verses (c.f L.D50)

Also worth a mention if somewhat off the beaten track are The Fall of Troy.
