    Question Is MSN not....

    Giving you decent speeds when sending files. I used to get uber speed with a clanmate whos on 10240/480 and you can see the kb numbers counting down pretty quickly, instantly. Now it takes ages to start and when it does, it downloads like 4 kb, and then stops for like 15 seconds and then does another 4kb.

    Anyone experiencing this?
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    On/off for me, seems to depend on who im sending too. If im sending to my sister at uni will get 50k a second, but if i send to my mate half a mile down the road i get about 5k. MSN isnt what you want to use to send files anyway .

    What error ?
    Most MSN errors are caused by an incorrect system clock (belive it or not ! ).
    If you google the error code, chances are you'll find a fix

    I've usually had decent speeds, then a few weeks ago, it dropped to a snails pace with ONE specific friend, but neither of us have a problem with other friends.

    Then, a couple of weeks ago, it mysteriously went back up to normal speeds again. Hmmm.

    Still, we both run FTP servers so only use MSN for an occasional small drag and drop.

    Mine's slower than a slow thing, and I'm sat behind a UPnP router. Also, MSN Messenger hangs repeatedly... for a while during sign in, when I open a new message window and whenever else it feels like it.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    MSN is woeful for file transfers and I've stopped using it to transfer files and digital images to friends etc.

    What I actually do now is to create a torrent using the inbuilt tracker built into azureus and then send the .torrent that's created in an email to all that want the pictures.

    I always get a full upload speed this way and if theres 6 people that want the pics I've got, then they all get it quicker compared to MSN as they upload it to each other while downloading from me

    Yep, same here, MSN has always been awful for file transfers for me wherever I've been. I have looked at the whole port-opening thing but you have to open a huge range by the looks of it, which you could do if you want but I'm not too keen! So instead I tend to FTP up to a site then send the link if it's a large file.

    I've never had a decent speed on MSN, ever. Usually less than 5kps.

    In theory it's a direct connection between you both, so it's not an msn issue as such. Some days are fast and some are so slow it's better to email or abandon altogether. Never found an explanation, but of course make sure you arent maxing out your upstream bandwidth or your recipient isn't either as of course it will be slow if that is happening.

    Same, although I think hanging during sign-in is partly due to my fat contact list (I really should clean it out sometime)

    As for the file transfers, mine goes at about 0.5k to some people, and maxes out my upload to others. I have no idea why
