Not quite yet i still think its a bit early tbh. Traditionally decorations shouldnt go up until christamas eve but traditionally children also recieve a tangerine and two monkey nuts in an old sock rather than a playsation
Bah humbug ;) :D
Can we get a half-way option?
Came out the loft today, but they're not all up yet. Given the chance my mum would have had them up at the weekend!
trying to stave off the festive cheer decorations, let alone the christmas shopping. 24th Dec is a good time to start both
ours are still in the loft, and shall remain there till at least the 20th if i have my way. i've had enuff of christmas already this year, its all started waaaay too early, and its just commercialisation. or i'm just a modern day Scrooge, you decide.
peace.
my mum cant be arsed with the fiasco of getting the decorations out of the loft so she's bought some new ones
which will cause more hasell as they will have to go in the loft which will mean taking the old ones out anyway so theirs enough room for the new ones :o
probably put them up this weekend
as for christmas shopping thank god for the internet and all the gadget sites :P
I lost all interest in christmas last week when something happened in my life. :( Decorations are still in the loft. They can stop there for all i care
I don't know/care when the decorations are going to be put up... I don't see the point to be honest. Tinsel makes a mess of the nice carpet, and christmas lights are a waste of electricity, imo. There are quite a few houses near me that had all their decorations up halfway through November. Why? I don't know.. I don't even believe in Jesus, let alone Santa Claus.
I'm with theo for the most part on this one, although it is nice to see SOME tasteful decorations going up near christmas (i.e the week before) as i think it does cheer people up slightly, but the ones we have at work appeared mid november, i mean ffs all the holidays are gonna blend into one soon at this rate.
a week before xmas is fine, any earlyer is not!
coming home today i drove past a house that was compleatly covered in lights, it just looked stupid. one house has lights up all year round on the roof though they only on around xmas, not that bad thugh i wouldnt go up onto roof just for decorations each year...
though i think when the shop i work in starts playing CRAPPY xmas songs THREE WEEEEEKS AGO instead of the usuall crappy playlist, THAT IS JUST WRONG!!! btw this shop used to play a song called "young american" or something, if any ones heard it, 3 times in a row, then another song, then 2 times in a row, then another song, 3 times in a row, advert, other song, then 2 times in a row, etc.. you get my point, this shop has a CRAP PLAYLIST!! i almsot quit cos it was os fkn annoying
oh not only that , now they moved all the kids toys downstairs to my floor for the "impulse" buying when parents are queueing up at teh till child says "i want!!" and starts crying if they dont get, for about 30 mins cos are queus atm very long! this isnt bad thing untill you relise 90% of the toys are NIOSEY, so yes, i do hate xmas.
If i had my way it would be illegal to put up decorations till at least the 1st of Dec. BHS put theirs up in Oct. By the time Christmas does actually come, every 1 is borred with it!
Tis a family tradition in my house that the decor goes up exactly 2 weeks before then goes down exactly 2 weeks after!
4 weeks of festive cheer. Is it me of does the house look so much more empty and slightly depressing when all the decor is gone? Does any one else get this feeling???
We have the 5ft tree up in the dining room. The 7ft one will be up this sunday along with the ceiling decorations and the driveway lights.
I never bother with xmas.
Just bought a 6ft Christmas tree and some lights from sainsburys which died after about an hour of use! Oh well! Dont think Ill be going for any of the OTT "lit up pic of santa riding over the house" type stuff though! :)
YES! my pink treeeee with it's pink liights and it's silver/white sparkily balls is UP!

- Thats all thats up at the moment, the main household decorations will go up next weekend :)
Ive got the lighr switched on in my room now, but other than that we are decoration free.
My Stats teacher already has the crhistmas tree up in his room tho.
Ours have been slowly going up over the last few days and will all be up by the end of the weekend I guess. Dunno when we are getting a tree though...
nope, but i have a set on the back of my backpack for cycling...its a string of 20 red LEDs I got in my stocking, they're from habitat.
plus i move between my houses so haven't got round to decorating the one I'm gona spend xmas in...
Ours went up last sunday :)
can't put any up yet cos i'm meant to be moving house before xmas :( can't say i'm looking forward to it, current eta is 17th
having said that, my new place has a h00ge tree in the front garden if we're in before xmas and i get my way, i'll be clambering up it with some outdoor lights
We normally just go for a tree (real one) which we havent got yet.
Saw the B&Q advert for the stupidely large inflatable santa @ £65.
Tempted to get one just to piss people off...lol
Might change my screen saver to the snow one.
And put the cards on the mantel piece.
That'll be about it i think
Just bought our 8ft tree for our main reception (we have a large house, lol), its in the garden at the mo although prob come in tomorow. Put a few sets of lights up in a few rooms although most of the decorations'll go up next weekend I think!
*looking on worriedly, but then comprehending*:Quote:

yeah don't worry, its cold out,and as any self respecting bloke knows - wait 'til it gets warm again - they'll come back down.
Mine going up tommorrow ..................... /me checks time .................Ok so mayby it is tommorrow so they are goin up later today :D:D:D me happy
i put the tree up the night before last as a suprise for my mom as she said she didnt knwo when theyd get done becuase she didnt have time to do them (too much work).
Then they called her in at the hospital to work through the night, so thats when i pounced !
I was up till 6am (as i am usually, just not near a comp (what a strange feeling that was)) and got the mighty sum of 4 hours sleep.
:(
bah humbug.
Christmas comes too early... I will be making sure the Xmas decorations dont go up before the 15th of December.
earlier than 10 days before Xmas is just sick, wrong and pointless..
Ben
I've always been told you put them up 12 days before christmas (12th dec) and then take them down 12 days after (jan 5th)
Thats when my tiny optical christmas tree goes up anyway.. :)
