I agree that there certainly was never a golden-age of good behaviour and citizenship, but I think in the politcally correct age of today, we're all so concerned with our own "rights" we've lost site of everyone elses.

I'm getting pretty sick and tired of the constant stream of government "initiatives" aimed at making hospitals, schools, police, fire service (etc etc) more responsible and accountable, and more "respectful" to their clientele, and never a word about how parenting in this country is in some respects, a disgrace. How about making parents responsible for their children? How about initiatives to get parents to recognise their responsibilities in bringing up their children to be decent human beings, who can earn some respect, and learn to be accountable.

Blimey I sound like flippin' Victor Meldrew. But it does make me mad. And before anyone asks, yes I am a parent, and yes I know it isn't easy, and yes I do think its harder than when I was a boy!
