    Scrooge

Dunno if I am turnoing into a Scrooge, but Christmas just isn't the same as it was when I was a kid (24 yrs me is now!) I go in, and it just grates on me, all the decorations, music, costumes and stuff. I just hate it!!

Can't believe its that time of year again either. Anyone remember what they got last Christmas?

I hate it too.. it's too pointless now, that it's not funny. I'm sure if I was religeous, I'd probably love it, but I'm not and I don't

I got all of Steve Albinis Big Black 12 inch vinyls, and 3 seven inch singles/eps, last year.

None of you got kids have you?, go and find a family near you with young kids and watch they're eyes sparkle as they get up on Christmas morning, I too thought the same as you until last year but then i saw my sisters fiancee 8yr old sister getting up on Christmas day and opening her presents it was magical.

/me sends coal the humbugs above

    i'd rather not

however this year WILL be better than last year i have a bloke that doesnt treat me like poo for a change, and, although i'm just as skint as ever, i'm still happy and i'm determind that this year *wont* be a disaster (it'd be pretty damn impressive if it could top last year tbh!)

I know what you mean, Christmas seemed carp from when I was about 15 till my first child was old enough to know what it was about.

One of my teachers at school once told us all that the 'magic' of Christmas comes back when you have kids... none of us believed her but it's true!

As TiG says, all that magic Christmassy feeling comes back when you've either got kids or you watch kids with their pressies on Christmas morning. It really does make the whole work slog of the year worthwhile...

/goes off with a warm fuzzy feeling.

Its good to know im not the only one who isnt a big fan of christmas either. Things that really get on my nerves this time of year are

    1) even more old people in town which always hit you with their zimmerframes....no matter how far away.

    2) im the one who has to put up the decorations at work, and i dont even like christmas

and some others but im not in the mood to rant atm.

Yeah its the commercialism behind it all the pressure of buying stuff. Its SO in your face nowadays. Don't get me wrong, I like it when the family comes together and has a great time, the food and everything, its just going round the shops. Went to Brent Cross today for something, and its just SO in ones face. Just got what I wanted then left.

It doesn't suck, I just hate the commercialism.

want the Christmas you had all that time ago? have kids! seeing them at Christmas makes it all come back
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?

i hope you don't mind me askin' what happened last year? and if it was, quite frankly, sh*t then enjoy this one to the full and eat and drink as much as you can.

personally I used to like christmas, 'cause I was at boarding school it meant coming home so that was what made it, I was packed away at the age of 8 so realistically I left home then...well it feels like it anyway. but the last couple of years have been fairly average tbh...life at home getting me down and I'm planning moving out for good asap anyhow.
parents: can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em and sure as hell can't kill 'em (though I'v found a nice patch in the garden and I'm buying a spade next week just in case)

    Zak's instructions for getting Christmassy.

A: do all your shopping online, so you dont get down about the Commercialism. Its WHY play.com exist.

    B: Get some candles in

C: Get some mulled wine..Deckard will tell us how..its red wine, herbs and you heat it up.

D: Dark room......rainy outside. Candles on. NO telly. Get yourself some music on...may be some classical stuff..its well cheap....

E: Get some stuff from your childhood....maybe a program you really liked or a book.....

F: Comfy clothes, mulled wine, music, candles, telephone on the arm of the chair or by your bed....and settle in for the night.

It'll get you.....scented candles help a lot too.

Someone go get Deckard to get the easiest Mulled Wine recipe....
