    Damn the ATM Machine(s)

Today I went to Hammersmith for dinner and I went to the ATM Machine to take some money. On my way the first ATM machine is out of order, I keep walking and saw the Halifax ATM Machines. Right one said something about fault, left one seems normal.

I put my card in (felt something wrong already, since it didn't go in properly), then I got in successfully and asked for a tenner.

Then the card ejects and screen tell me to remove card. But the card is only ejected halfway The machine tried again but it stuck at the same position again. I tried using 2 coins to clip it out with no luck Another try and the machine ate my card

Now I need to f***ing go to the bank and get them to send me a new card and need to get paypal to re-verify my card again.

I also need to tell my bank NOT to cancel my old card because I coincidently made 2 paypal payments yesterday Really crap timing the machine ate my card.

I have had a machine chomp my card before, odd thing is it ate the card up BEFORE asking me for ANY details what so ever. I literally put the card in the slot and the machine blinked for a moment then went back to the please insert card screen. left me looking like

Only card I've ever had eaten was at an Esso service station at 3am filling up a hire car before I took it back. It was one of those self service stations with no attendants at all. There was a button to press to speak to a bloke at the control centre, and he was no use at all.

Another reason to boycott Esso, then (which I have done ever since). Luckily I had a tenner in my pocket, and there was a proper service station down the road, so I didn't get stung for taking the car back empty. I missed a couple of good nights out because I couldn't get cash though.

The ATMs that only let you take out £20 when you only need £10. They get on my big bouncy (and proverbial so no wisecracks) tits!

Or equally as irritating, the ATMs that are painfully slow like they have a pentium II 450 cpu on 32k modem connection to the banks...disgusting...

heh, pressing a random button for money is always fun for your mates card

i once had my card eaten by a machine in a bank, on xmas eve -at the time it was my only card, and i had bought *no* presents. fortunately, bank were very sympethetic and let me get some money out over the counter with my drivers licence (i knew all my account details by heart).

You think they're slow? You should try using a (South) Korean portable ATM to take money out of a UK bank account. I would literally have to wait in the shop for 15 minutes before my money came through.

Still, taking out a wad of monay every couple of weeks (And getting hit by ATM charges) worked out cheaper than paying Korean bank charges for 18 months.

Oh, and whyile we're on Korean ATM's, it's annoying when prices are similar to UK prices, the biggest note is the equivalent of £5! You end up with a burst wallet!

One that smacks people in the face if they're overdrawn?

For some reason, I have a tendency to associate new technology with violence. But it's comical violence nonetheless.

I know they are annoying, one near my work took my card and promptly blue screened and re-booted which was odd, so I went inside, and started to queue got to the desk and i was believed so I had to wait for the manager to come out of his office (a full 5 minutes, a meeting you say? No he was covered in baguette bits and sauce on his suit!).

He then got the card and gave it back. I never used that one again.

Also since it was 18 months ago I was suprised to see it was NT4!
