i hear don one of those energy adverts that u need to turn tv off to save energy not on standby... Whats the point i nstandby then. how annoying if everytime u get in bed to watch tv u think, oh ****, turned it off by the tv

why dont they force tv makers to make a better standby mode then?
ir recievers can't take up that much juice ffs!

I was once asked if ships float when they're not turned on by a blonde friend.
its next to nothing in most cases. my 36" crt uses <1W on standby, or under 1% of a decent lightbulb.
