I saw a repeat of the MTV awards bit with Borat on a TV link with Justin Timberlake. He got Justin to say how much he loved Denmark and then he said we was surprised because "denmark is like the dirt from my arnoos" - funny how the danes went from cheering to booing just like that. He then manipulated Justin to stop him telling Jewish jokes, to turn it around that Justin knew all the best ones.

I appreciate the guys humour and was a big fan of Ali G back when it was good but I'm not sure if I want to support (by paying to see) a film that bases it's theme on a racist stereotype. Though I might change my mind if I do see it. I like south park and thats got to be the worst offender

I think the Kazakstanis (is that the right term?) will be the most offended.

Jews dont have that much to be offended with to be honest. The only 'real' Jews in the film (as opposed to the Jews in the 'running of the Jews') are portrayed as very nice people.

Still laughing at the though of Borat trying to be black

tbh it was fairly funny but last weeks south park 'god strikes back or something' was better

To think that SBC/Borat is insulting/taking the piss out of anyone except the stupid ignorant bigoted people he exposes is to completely miss the point of the whole film really...

No thinking Jew/homosexual/black person/woman should ever be offended- unless everything is taken at face value, in which case you wont get any of the humour here, so move along now

I was unsure about BORAT and thinking that maybe this thing had all been done before. But I saw it last night and found it hilariously funny even though it did make me cringe at times.

Has anyone heard the Mark Kermode review of Borat? (i listen to the podcast every week).

I think he was right on the money, there is something very wrong with this film.

i agree its quite wrong, whatever cohen is trying to achieve, most people arent intelligent enough to get beyond 'lets laugh at jews'

the idea of, 'im jewish too so i can say what i want' doesnt really cut it with me either

I agree with you, I seen the film too.

But to be honest he has got out of it exactly what he wants. Publicity, and a shedload of money.

TBH I think exactly the opposite - The way that the writers of south park handle sensitive subjects is quite often very clever and contains some sort of moral or message in each one (although of course, not a very conventional one)

For instance, the episode where Cartman pretends to be disabled so he can enter the Special Olympics ("and what's your son's disability Mrs Cartman?" "Oh... he's... retarded!") just makes Cartman look like the bad guy rather than going "hur hur hur, aren't disabled people stupid" and approaches the situation in a unique and non-patronising way.

Oh, and it's pant-wettingly hilarious at the same time

I saw it on Sunday and I must say that the fight scene is a classic although fairly distrubing. Some other great gags in there too. I guess if your a woman, black or have any form of condition then you will be offended by this movie

We went down to see it at the chav central multiplex on Sunday. It was pretty good, though have to say the scripted parts were not as funny as the rest. I prefer the Borat of old, where he leads innocents down a dark path and makes them say the dumbest things, there were some good moments, and the fight scene was a giggle but all in all I dont rate it that much.
What we share with everyone is glum, and dark...

One thing I did notice was the cinema was full of chavs which was a bit annoying. You know the rhodio (sp?) bit, was that real?
    With love and many thanks,
