Can I get fined £200,000/£300,000? (Law, Fruad)

Ok, this is not for homework if your wondering.

I'm calling up orange to cancel my sisters contract which is under my DADS name.

My dad is in the same room.

Im calling up and they ask, are you *dads name*, because 3 people are talking to me at once I say "yes". Then they ask like "whats your date of birth" and whatever and I hesistate, then they say "I dont think you are *insert name* sir".

I hang up in hesistation and thats it.

If I impersonate my father, with him not wanting to press charges and it was a mistake, can I be found liable?

    Will orange chase this up?

I know I made a mistake, but my sister was moaning and my dad was being lazy.

Ive just had a huge argument with my dad over this thing, can someone set it straight?

I know this seems so stupid to argue over, but my family is stupid like that. and for ONCE I would like to give them facts.

What am I liable under and what are the maximum charges? I would go and look but right now I need to cook some dinner, and I really want to get it sorted ASAP.

Lets just leave it at that

Nah, they're not going to fine you. The only reason you could get fined is if you made changes to the contract without authorisation.

They insist on talking to the person named on the contract for their own protection as much as anything else. If they recorded the call, all they got was someone phoning from the house where your Dad lives saying he's your Dad - not much to go on there .

If your Dad's too lazy to phone them, just print out a letter canceling the contract and get him to sign it.

I would of thought that even if they would want to take it further (which is unlikely) they would need your dad to press charges against you.. or something like that anyway.
So unless Orange hate your guts and so does your dad - your ok
