Laptop import, safe?

Coz there is obviously a li-ion battery in every laptop, I wonder if I can mail a laptop through the custom?

My father is mailing me a new laptop (way cheaper there for C2D). It doesn't have a sony battery so it shouldn't blow up.

Anyone have experience mailing laptop into UK?

Well there should be people importing laptop through ebay everyday ? And I dont think Li-ion battery is classified as explosive ?

get him to pack it with the laptop separated from the battery. The laptop should NOT travel with the battery attached to the laptop itself (not least as it could get knackered.)

Just make sure its suitably packed otherwise and you will be fine.

Wrap it up in wrapping paper with a birthday card then label it as a 'gift' then you wont get charged Import Duty+VAT.
